I’ve just checked and that bit of water is actually a little man-made body of water The Mersey is just under 1km away.

Aye, you’re right. I was always told it was right behind the ground as it was the closest football league ground to the River Mersey.

Knowsley United were on the banks of the Alt but are no more.


It's nice for Liverpool to be able to claim a famous river they're in the proximity of.

Question on spurs stadium.

I believe your concourse is a huge shared one for the standard seating.

How does the stadium mitigate that with the away end in the corner? Or is it more of a shared C shape?

We would've got an East-West 60k+ Stadium, with most of it paid for by the games. Can't remember if the athletics track would've been on a slightly raised platform with one temporary stand on the western end to be replaced later to give normal football viewing distances.

However, I think that was originally with a view to bid for the next commonwealth games. Durban's cancellation brought it all forward and wrecked the timeline.
