Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Folk are dropping like flies at thecrucket. Its 35 degrees. Many are seeking shelter under the stands or in the designated shady area. It's hot but not unbearable for me. Similar to the year I went to Skiathos in August. Had the genius idea of freezing my bottled water last night and now it's icy cold and gradually melting through the day. Is ot too much information to tell you I've got a bottle shoved down my cleavage!

England need some wickets and need them very soon. SA could get about 300 at this rate.
Photos of your cleavage or we don’t believe you?

We've bailed on the cricket and come home. Lasted for about 10 overs of the England innings but it was no longer a fun experience. The queues for the water fountains were longer than those at the bar. The heat was relentless- it didn't cool down much at all. If you're watching on TV you can see there's hardly anybody left. Feel sorry for the many Dads I saw who had brought their young sons with them. The park and ride bus, which was supposed to start running half an hour before close of play, actually started taking people back after about 20 overs of the SA innings. I'm still trying to cool down at home. Have drank gallons of water!
That’s a shame but no point in staying under those circumstances you could easily become ill. Hope you cool down soon but if where you are is anything like here that may be a forlorn hope still 32 outside and our house is like an oven.

Wow that is spectacular BB. Do you get many wild animals coming up close ?
No predators loose in this park. Seems a few of the animals have become pretty used to people , so we had resident Nyala which would come to the chalets and the kids could pet them, bush pigs came in a family one evening but they’re pretty aggressive so no one went close, and some mongoose came to say goodbye as we were leaving (ie waiting to ravage the kitchen after we left)… fair amount of giraffe around..

@Gwladysover and @jazzy I thought I was doing OK. I tan quite easily so sunburn is never really an issue. However in the break between the innings I went to refill our water bottles. It was the first time I had left my seat ( son had been doing the bar run) and by the time I had walked the short distance to the water fountain I was so hot, knackered and glowing profusely ? ? ( another one from the nuns - horses sweat, men perspire, ladies glow!) When I got back Chris said to me "Mum this is awful" so we made an executive decision to come home. It didn't help that the game wasn't particularly exciting - the pitch was like a road.

Sensible decision. Just glad you are OK.

Good morning all ,I hope all are well and watered with no further problems.Up early this morning as I have ear ache ,so glad that I am going today to have it sorted out . I have a few health problems but the only pains I get are from my knees and back which can be managed .This ear ache has woken me up to the plight of others .It must terrible to be in constant pain as some on here ,you now have even more sympathy from me . Have a cool day all and I hope you get rain .COYB

Morning all, bright, sunny and much cooler but still no rain. Going to granddaughters’ school fete this afternoon, thunderstorms forecast, I know we need the rain but I’m hoping that we don’t get any today at least not until teatime anyway. Harry’s school was open yesterday and only 7 turned up in his form, so he had an easy day. @blue1948 hope you get the ear sorted this afternoon. Hope you have recovered from the heat @anjelikaferrett, us ladies of a certain age have our own microclimate and we don’t need any outside influences to make matters worse ?. Just an insight on womanhood for the gentlemen amongst us.?. Have a good day all.?

Hi everyone ,

Well firstly I hope that @anjelikaferrett and @blue1948 are both feeling better.

Awesome photos @BornBlue76 !

Pleased to report that the temperature has returned to normal today but still bright and sunny and no imminent rain forcasted.

Therefore looks like the hosepipe will get a lot of use.

Been delaying cutting the grass due to the drought but think I might have to soon.

Have a lovely day one and all
