I never look too much into pre season games. See United hammering Liverpool 4-0.

Arsenal are a top 4/5 side who have added loads of players. We are still waiting to bring lads in.

1st game, we lost to a set peice, and frankly a flukey 2nd goal.

I dont see us being competitive with Arsenal this season, so losing in that way, is not a disaster.

Sounds like Gbamin and Warrington did well as well which is a big plus. Hopefully can add 2 or 3 more players.

This is what everyone said last year with Benitez, we played like relegation fodder all pre-season and it was a great indication of how the season would pan out.

Well its what happens every season. And 19 out of the last 20, weve never been in a relegation dogfight mate.

I'd also add, I seem to remember us winning our early pre season games last season.

I dont think it has any correlation to what follows. There are far too many variables, beyond a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, filled with top new signings can give.

And playing 2 different 11s, we don't normally do that in the league

I didn't watch it becuase I can't be arsed staying up until 3am to watch a pre season friendly.

I went to sleep secure in the knowledge that whatever happened, Everton would be, on here at least, the worst team ever to appear on a football field and was not disappointed.

I too valued sleep. And honestly I made that decision knowing whatever happened, is not going to adversely effect my view on this team.

We are not as good as Arsenal.

Nobody is pretending everything is rosy, but perspective is very important: it's one fixture - our first to boot - against a strong Arsenal and only one addition.

I think everyone would have preferred a victory if not a solid performance, however it wasn't to be. Let's see in a few games where we are.

@Alan Whittle's Palace have drew to Warrington Stanley, just beaten Millwall and lost to Liverpool, so I wonder if they're now feeling ready for relegation.

West Ham's results haven't been sparkling either.

It's as though we got battered 6.0 to some people.

First half Dom got behind them a few times, we transitioned well, we pressed from the front. Central midfield still an issue (the idea that someone like Winks wouldn't improve things massively is beyond me for example).

Players like Tarko and Gordo started in the B team, once they're in the main set up, you solidified certain areas.

Midfield is still key.

I get that too.

Lost to a set peice and a fluke. With better match fitness, those goals dont get conceded. Need a bit kore quality going forward, which we know already.

Why on earth did Frank ask for Dele Alli, surely questions need to be asked, Dele was never going to fit the 5-2-3 that Frank is so clearly desperate for us to play and be like Chelsea. Only difference they are off spending 100s of millions to make their system work! I guarantee Chelsea would be a better team playing 4 at the back, the 5 is so limited.

Last night we pressed and our press was beaten too easily, this is simply down to numbers, if you have a spare man in midfield there is always a forward ball on in to midfield bypassing you front 3 and CM 2.

It absolutely beggars belief that people payed handsomely millions of pounds per year can not spot the glaring obvious... he will be the 1st to go next season and we will start the vicious spiral again.
