Everton Pre-Season (Tours) 2022/23 Thread

We got battered by Utd just before the start of last season and still started well.

Fitness is massive at this stage of pre season and Arsenal had already played 2 games so we were clearly behind them.

Anyone that was at Old Trafford that day knew that Everton were in real trouble last season.

In terms of bed wetting, yeah pre season leads to way too many hysterics. But the idea that you can form an opinion because it’s pre season is madness.

Not that it matters anyway, pre season or no pre season this group of players has been abysmal for years now. It’s not gonna be a shock to us when they continue to do so.

The issue with the first half yesterday was our in ability to break Arsenal’s press. The defenders and midfielders were not good enough in playing in tight spaces.

Doucoure and Davies do not have the ability to pick the ball up in tight areas and find a pass.

This was purely fitness and minutes in the legs, hence the 11 changes at half time. The next game will be interesting

I missed it all. Please don’t tell me Lampard is still obsessed with 5 at the back? How can someone that is paid so much not see that this is doomed to failure? It will cost him his job if he carries on with that nonsense! I’m sorry, but I think he must actually be looking for the sack if he continually repeats something that has never worked and never will.

We may as well play 3 at the back because we're going to have to attack to get anything out of games this season..

With the current squad it's definitely worrying times. Even if you can't lay the blame at his door (poor squad, dreadful tactics under Benitez) despite shifting the deadwood and maybe getting a fitter JPG and Dele into the squad we are down Richo and that loss needs replacing, soon!!

I don’t think that game taught us anything we didn’t already know. Just reassured the fact that without some decent recruitment, the coming season is gonna be another long, hard struggle.

I know, pre season friendly and it’s all about fitness. But there wasn’t a semblance of creativity or even the ability to keep hold of the ball for more than 5 passes.

Just seen franks comments after the game, "Arsenal have played 3 friendlies now and are in a different phase to us".

My question is Why? Do we not start the league campaign on the same weekend? Why are we so far behind where they are?

I guess the answer is Arsenal want to have a real go this season and is taking it seriously whereas Everton aren`t really arsed, another worrying sign if you needed to see any more.

Didn't bother watching last night. Useless pre-season friendly against a team that is objectively vastly superior to us? Nah I'll pass on that thanks. Just like I will all the remaining pre-season games (with the exception of the home game that I'll probably go to). These games mean absolutely nothing and I refuse to let my mood be effected by them.
