In a world where samuel umtiti and dan axel zagadou are free agents we get the tarkoski

So we get the superior player. Also the one who doesnt have fitness issues.

Whats the problem here?

That is giving my nightmares of siggy all over again, that was his arguement with swansea when he came from there he linked their team together. He may of been linked but that doesnt make him any better, tosun was meant to leave here years ago through links. Noone has ever or will ever pay 40m for tarks and theres a reason for that. And come this time next year we will be stuck with a 30 year old on high ish wages, whos most probably signing on me. with no resale value. If you want to use financial reasons in the long run this is bad

So theyre actually totally different deals and unrelated then.

Ok lets make someone who can stay fit our highest earner. You say bolasie mark 2, i say we've signed alvarez mark 2

Theres zero correlation or logic in this post.

Is there a reason why only aston villa and Newcastle came in for tarks? I mean if your happy being a mid ish level team then looks like this is your signing. Yes he is definitely an upgrade on our defenders but im tired of stop gaps. He is not our long term CB. Nor is he good enough for any aspiring teams in a perfect world for me he would be 3rd choice

Yet his defensive stats were around the leagues best. Also Lampard previously wanted him at Chelsea and Moyes West Ham...so your concerns have no substance.

Like dont get me wrong im happy we have improved CB im just thinking bigger picture. Like we hear all this we aren't going to go the same way transfer wise we brought in thewell to help run transfers different. And guess what. We have just made a 29 year old former burnley man whos team just got relegated our HIGHEST earner. Like now look at the recent players earning over 100k a week for us and tell us whos worth it? We are everton and our highest earners are ande gomez and tarks.

Theres no reports that hes the highest earner.

Ok being linked with moves means nothing. And has burnley not just let go tarks go on a free with only Everton and aston villa interested? Cant use that in this argument.
May not seem like im happy we have improved on our CBs but this is not the kind of signing we should be making in any way if we have ambitions. You want us to be a stable mid table team? I dont i want us to be a stable european/CL team

Burnley didnt let him go.

I know it wont happen overnight and i have been patient dince moshri came in, the team wont be built overnight blah blah blah. Our transfer strategy seems the same even with a new DOF. how about you look through the free agents and then tell me he was the best option, its a sad time when people get shouts just cause they can remain fit. If you think you will ever see tarks in a CL team or even Europa team you are mad

You have no idea on the transfer strategy this window.

Mad is an interesting choice of word here...

Would genuinely rather have Tarkowski than Ake. We desperately need to free ourselves of the likes of Keane and Holgate asap though. Far too risky playing League One quality players in the Premier League.

I don't really think it's that crazy to think a team who got 39 points, and then loses their best player, might be in for another relegation battle. I'm not saying we are definitely going down or anything like that. I'm just saying what I see, and I think this squad would do no better than last year.

16th would be about right for these players, because they are either highly inconsistent, hugely overrated, permanently injured, or lacking in hunger and desire.
The crazy thing is that you look at our players and when they performed on their absolute worst. Expecting that to be the only level for them onwards.

Look at Calvert-Lewin, Alli, Gordon, Doucoure, Mykolenko, Holgate, Allan, Keane, Coleman and Patterson. Do you expect these ten players to do better or worse next season than last season? If we dont see at least 7 or 8 of them have a better season, we have a manager problem. Not a player or squad problem.

Getting underperforming players to do OK will improve the team more than £150 million on the transfer market. And if you cant get OK performances out of underperforming players, you should not bother getting new players. Waste of money.

There is so much that can be done without spending crazy money on new players. Under Ancelotti did Everton OK on set pieces. Both offensive and defensive. +8 goal difference for set pieces were great for a mid-table team. Then Benitez came in. Trying to fix what was not broken. From day one it was embarrassing to see the team trying to defend set pieces. Offensive it was even worse. No Gylfi or James while Digne was told to focus on defending. Gray and Townsend on set pieces duty so Benitez could brag about their importance and talk about how cheap they were on the post match press conference.

Comparing the two last seasons the difference on set pieces alone can easily be worth 12 or 15 points. Including the slight improvement we saw after Lampard came in.

I would like to think at the players that were more than capable to defend set pieces with Ancelotti as manager also can do a job with Lampard as manager. If they cant, its a manager problem. Not a player problem. New players wont fix that.

He’s still better than what we had at the point of discussion
Also, he is currently Rudiger replacement, will play a lot of games you’d imagine

City wouldn‘t let a player go, who they thought would strengthen a potential rival mate and I include Sterling in that too.

I’d wager, if you looked on a chelsea forum, they would be a tad underwhelmed with the signing of Ake.
