It's all well and good doing it in farmers leagues in Spain, Germany and England, but the good ones can turn it on in the 31st round if the Agadoo Cup when it really matters.

It's a bit of a lottery till the 42nd round but once at that stage the 128 teams left in the cup would all fancy their chances.

All a bit crazy how he went from footballing megastar to dwindling to an early retirement in Qatar or Saudi or wherever the heck Al Rayyan is.

I bet he could have joined one of many top teams, probably much better and bigger teams than us, when Madrid made him available for the knockdown price we ended up paying, even if his wages were huge.

I guess money was the biggest motivator for him after all, which you can't really knock him for if somebody is going to throw £300k a week at you with almost no expectation that you'll catapult their club to success.
