So, just to be clear.

No 19 year old CBs, no over the hill 25 year olds and no Russians.
Oh if there was a chance Id take Colwill tbh, he is a big old unit and very mobile and miles better than of our current lot already. We won't get him though, if Chelsea don't keep him there are others who can offer more than we can.

Pretty sure we’ve got to work hard on reducing the wage bill for FFP. Not sure how £90,000 a week will help with that if that is what the suggested earnings will be.

If true. Ludicrous wages even for a player out of contract. And thats just got relegated. No wonder clubs are in such a mess.

If they can play they can play. John Stones was solid for us at 20 or whatever because he's a good footballer. Dias came to City at 23 or whatever and settled easily. Quality is quality.
But that season he came good he was largely partnered by Distin who could help guide him as Jags as out injured,

Distin had lost some of his pace then but they still made a good partnership - if he’d been partnered by a <25 year old I’m not sure it would have been as effective,

Its absolutely the right strategy, just not at centre half or in goal. You will get absolutely nowhere in this league with kids at centre half or in goal. You need an experienced spine and youth and energy everywhere else around them.

We signed pickford when he was 22 or 23

Boss idea.

Sign burnleys first choice centre half and watch him fall over and gift goals for years. Then go back and sign the fella who replaced him and has subsequently got relegated whilst our crap version stayed up.

STOP SIGNING RELEGATED PLAYERS AND MAYBE WE WONT BE GOING BACKWARDS EVERY SEASON

Yes, but we have the experience in the squad already. Unless you're going to move on Keane, Mina, Holgate and even Godfrey who is now 3 full seasons of PL experience in we have the old head covered.

I suppose a few are out of contract aren’t they?

Still though, that’s a lot of money for what is essentially an average journeyman player

He’ll probably be fine, but no way would he be value for money on those wages, especially when you factor in his signing fee and any clean sheet bonuses etc
