Agreed.

Leeds had been playing well under this Jesse Marsch guy until they started facing the big boys like City. And even against City they weren’t completely outclassed; the scoreline really flattered City.

Leeds are at home against Brighton and the Elland Road faithful can sometimes be like a 12th man.
Tbf, they weren't playing 'well' as such. They got very lucky against Wolves and Norwich but were organised in other games.

Brighton are the better side but I do not get some people's confidence at all that they're going to roll Leeds over. It'll be a tight game whatever happens.

Everton just need to do their bit.

Treating Leeds as a separate potential relegation rival - being 2 points clear of them we know that, at the very least, we take this into the final game.

Everton could be on (42-40-39-38-37 or) 36 with the final game to come
Leeds could be on (34-35 or) 37 with the final game to come

Worst case scenario is we are one point behind Leeds (so a better result than Leeds would save us).

I actually think the fact we’ve got that arsenal game (because they’re tough opponents) has people feeling more pessimistic than they should.

If we’d played 36 and the last two fixtures were Brentford and Palace at home, and Leeds’ last two were Brighton (H) and Brentford (A), and we only had to get equal to or better than 2pts less than Leeds over those games, I almost feel like people would feel more positive.
But in some ways, the fact that we have the Arsenal game last is right to make people more pessimistic. Why? Because it could be seen as a psychological "cushion" by our players as we play these two make-or-break home games. Those two games in your scenario would be do-or-die chashes as they would be our last two games. But in reality, they are "only" two of our last three games and the fear is subconsciously the players do not see the two home games as definitive. Arsenal is an unlikely psychological cushion - and we all know that we are getting nothing there if it is truly needed.

I mean we don’t really. We beat the European champions (granted at home) and Leicester away when it was “really needed”.

But I agree that I’d rather not go into that game needing something.

I don’t think for a moment that the players won’t see the home game as definitive, given that they’ve picked up barely over 0.5ppg away from home this season.

I'd be pretty confident that if we need a point at Arsenal on the last day, we will get nothing. These players have their chance in the next week. They better take it.
