It is indeed all ifs and buts. We still have to play Watford away too but no one will say we fancy that trip, the narrative will be that they’re due a win and so we can’t possibly get anything there. If we were in Burnley’s position we’d be acting like a point away at West Ham to leave us trailing them by 3 points having played a game more was an absolute disaster and all but confirmed us as down.

As a fanbase we’re always looking for ways to put us in the worst case scenario. We are incapable of looking at anything objectively. We even had people trying to make out Watford losing to Brentford somehow impacted us negatively. It is tiring to read tbh.
Spot on. We aren't safe. But we are in a better position then the teams below us. People suggesting Burnley might win their next 3 in a row. They could . But all reasoned logic suggests it will not happen.

The respective double games against Leicester and Villa would make an interesting side-story to this, if we were all neutral observers, that is. It must be very unusual.

Statistically, neither of the sides is likely to win or lose both games. It might in fact yield similar results for both teams in which case advantage Everton as two games more played and two less to come.

With us having the points advantage, it's imperative we at least get the win at home.

I'm not saying that makes the away game at Leicester a free hit, but it becomes close enough to it and would make a point a relatively big deal given how shockingly poor our away record is.

Home wins will be critical, but we may also drop points at home. If we took a point vs. Chelsea and 4 points vs Leicester, amongst the other points on offer, I'd be confident. That's probably too optimistic.

I said before I'm writing off derby game and Arsenal. That makes it tougher for us. In the remaining 6 games, I'd settle for 10 points, 11 would be an excellent return.

Like you say it is all what ifs, we could have beat Burnley and then got beat by United, which would have left us in the same position.

After that Burnley game if you were offered that Burnley would only get 1 point against Norwich and West Ham you'd have bitten their hand off.

Wednesday is so important, you just know that horrible RS in the dugout will go all out to help try and send us down.
It wouldn't really though, Burnley would be 3 points worse off, we'd be 6 ahead of them
