And Branthwaite.

In fairness we could have been 3 or 4 nil down by the time they scored their first.

No surprise given what was put out. It was a miraculous draw in the circumstances and probably shouldn't have been played anyway with teams crying off with covid around that time with 1-2 cases.

Just checked anyway and Chelsea lost their last three at Goodison and haven't won since April 2017 so I'm perhaps too hasty to just write that off. Richarlison likes playing them aswell. Fond memories of that Big Dunc game aswell when Calvert-Lewin finally looked a worthy prem striker.

I get it, but surely you could apply the same to the other 18 games we have lost so far this season.
Exactly and it could have been much worse. We could have lost yesterday, Burnley might have won today and we would be only 1 point above the relegation zone with a worse goal diff. Cannot go on maybes and what ifs, every single footy match is that by definition.

Got to take the positives and this weekend has been excellent for us.

It just makes that stupid defeat by Burnley more irritating knowing that if would be virtually safe.?

…we have to move on.

Its positive to say we’ve recovered the situation & now in the same position as before the Burnley defeat. Indeed we are in a better position because we now have the same goal difference.

i think we’d have all settled for that on Thursday morning. Time to put on our West Ham scarfs.

Haven't Leicester won 3 of their last 5?

Was looking at their line up today and tbh Tielemans, Maddison, Barnes etc going to be tricky to contain. That said their backline was a bit makeshift so different to them having Evans-Fofana back which is their best CB combination by a mile.

Think first 20 minutes of that will say a lot, whether they shy away from 50/50s early on or knock the ball around with ease. They might be out of europe by then aswell. Vardy not being around is a big plus at least as his runs would kill the backline even with Mina hopefully returning.
Apparently they have to play away in Eindhoven in midweek, and then away at Newcastle before our match against them. We meanwhile have a 10 day break before that match.

Can't really ask for kinder preparation before a big game at this stage of the season.

Nope. This close to season end. The team directly below us. A team who hadnt scored in 5 games. Was an absolute MUST not lose.
Infuriating defeat. I pray that Godfrey clearence doesnt come back to haunt us.

Burnley losing today maintains that 4 point gap, which is great. But Brentford winning and getting to 36 points probably makes them safe. Newcastle and Leeds are probably 1 win each off being safe.

It feels like the run in will be from; us, Burnley, Watford and Norwich

It is,but then had we won at Burnley or even held out for a draw, who's to say that we'd have still beaten Man U? A more positive result at Burnley might have seen Lampard not make so many changes for yesterdays game,or there may have been a more complacement performance from the whole team yesterday, perhaps thinking the hard work had been done in midweek? Obviously we'll never know, but if you'd have said this time last week after West Ham,that we'd still be four points clear of them this weekend,I'd have settled for that given our respective opponents yesterday and today,so for now I'm remaining positive!

I was at the match and was convinced we would get battered when I saw the team but we rode our luck and much improved in the second half even with a makeshift team.
