Thing is, this is more or less the same squad, minus one James Rodriguez (who didn't play too often), that Carlo had... And he was doing much better.

So, basically, what happened? FFS

Carlo new we didn't have the tools to press and defend high up the pitch so he didn't ask us to do it. Our defenders weren't left exposed. It meant were were fairly limited in an attacking sense but it gave our defence some protection. Lampard needs to work with what he has.

No wonder Carlo got off. This is why every single manager we have eventually gets chewed up and spat out. No one could work with these bells.

I wanted them to suffer even longer under Benitez. It’s the least they deserved. I’d hoped we’d get a Mourinho or a Van Gaal, some absolute nightmare to make their life a misery and then punt them from the club.

But no, we let them off the hook, got a promising young manager in and now they’ll go about destroying his career as well.
