Careful now - the last manager tried to eradicate the poor mentality you speak of and the poster you are quoting + others didn't like it.

@Saint Domingo
Maybe if he spent less time doing doing this (which he did by getting rid one of our better players) and more time on actually sorting out our defence and winning games. Then maybe he would still be here, but let's all 'kin thank God he isn't.
Also why are you tagging @Saint Domingo in and not @davek and @4737carlin as well.
Weren't they part of your strange little cabal as well.

I'm not expecting much from him because I don't particularly rate him, just because he cost buttons doesn't mean we should over hype how good he ACTUALLY is which is what people do on here.

I don't agree hes improving all the time either, he started last year on fire and then scored hardly any goals in the last 20 odd games, he's not consistent at all, and he's what 24/25 now? He should be showing some levels of consistency, let's see how he goes for the rest of the season, not writing him off or wanting to sell him it just amazes me people think he's worth north of 80m given what we've seen from him over the years.

England international, 24 years old, 20 goals in a season and 3 years left on his contract... Why would we not want top dollar to sell him to a rival?

Not what I said is it.

What we want and what's realistic are two completely different things.

I agree we don't need to sell and should aim high if we was to sell, but people saying wouldn't sell for 80m etc is astonishing

And replaced by yes men like Neville who told us the aim was to get 10th place. Moyes had a culture of player's happy to reach those giddy heights.
It messes with my head that people still don't understand the concept of underpromise/overdeliver.

We need to get back to that sort of realistic expectation setting, a big part of our problem in recent years has been shouting our mouth off about winning things and competing at the top when we're simply not equipped to do it. A reset of expectations where we acknowledge that firstly staying up and then consolidating ourselves in the top 8 would be a good base to work from would be very beneficial right now.

On topic, I can see both sides of the DCL argument. He's one of our best players and certainly our best goalscorer, but everyone has a price and I can see why people think cashing in would make sense.

A strange cabal that wanted the long term problems at the club removed so that the players who have seen five managers fired could finally be held to account as not good enough?

Proper weirdos them

He did the opposite. Drilled it into the team more than any manager since moyes. Instilled into the team that they had to go and set up for draws against every team no matter how poor they were.

Consolidating power at the club doesn’t equal getting rid of the poor mentality.

We've had great players over the years where the worry is always there that they'll be gone very shortly to another club and leave an impossible gap to fill. I've not had those feelings of worry about this happening in the last few years, and certainly not with DCL.

Maybe the new manager will turn this team around so those worries returnlol

That's fine, then get a manage who can get rid of those players, but more importantly get one who can win games. By the way Benitez did neither so he deserved to be sacked. It's a pity the staunch loyalty shown to a failed ex rs manager isn't extended to current Everton players and staff. This isn't aimed at you as I can't recall your stance on this, more towards @ForeverBlue92 and @davek

Loyalty to current players? I don’t have any, the majority are completely rubbish and have taken the mick at this club for years seeing off five managers in the process. Couldn’t care less if we traded them all out the door in the next few windows.

latest rumour is that he has another knock and wont be playing the weekend, I don't understand why all of a sudden he is picking u so many injuries and knocks... he rarely injured prior to this season..

Yet you backed an abysmal manager that could have taken us down.
Well done you.
