Confirmed Signing Vitaliy Mykolenko

I’ve said for a long time that the squad age needs to be brought down.

Whether we like it or not, we’ve got Benitez here, and what’s the point in having Digne, who seems unwilling to play, when we could actually get money for him and replace him.

Yes, we need other reinforcements, but end of the day, if we can actually sell someone who won’t feature for money, something we’ve not been able to do successfully in the Moshir reign, then let’s do it.

Again, this was only a problem a month ago created by Benitez.

For a club that has an awful spending record, what we've done here is sign a left beck when we actually need cover for left back for £20mill. For any sensible club this would be a squad boosting signing not a first team replacement of a very good player.

Overall it'll be a nothing moment. He'll sign, play, people will say "it's like we've not missed Digne" completely forgetting that £20mill could've bought a DM, a CM, or RB, that we desperately need.

…I like Digne lots, at his best he is up there with the best. The issue is, his strengths are in the attacking third and Benitez does not encourage his FBs to attack.

Digne does not fit the playing strategy and he might be too strong a character for Benitez.

This lad looks a real unit and I’ve been calling for an age for pace and power across the back four so I can’t complain. A new signing gives the place a lift.

I get that. Which is why it screams to me that Rafael targeted Digne from the off the minute he got the job

Mad signing.

Obviously means the end of digne which is a shame because at one point he was arguably the best lb in the league ( dropped of massively like )

Be interesting to see how much we get for digne though and to who

I've been wanting us to take a chance on some young up-and-comers for years so I won't complain too much about this. Ideally those unknowns would have been much cheaper 10-15mil. I just hope we sell Digne for at least 5 million more than we're paying for this kid. I know he's not been at the levels we're used to from him, but he's still a top class left back and we should be able to turn a decent profit on his sale.

You’d like to think we could get £30-£35 million for Digne but with his much publicised fall out with Benitez, I think teams will know we want rid of him and offer well below that figure

He could already be sold and sitting out to make sure he's good to go once ins and outs are sorted.

Who out there is short a left back and has money?
