Has hickey been linked i kno was highly rated in scotland no idea how he has been in italy

Hes been linked to AC Milan recently with Paulo Maldini scouting him.

I like having Scottish players in the squad. They tend to have the right mentality and bring an 'edge'.

Selling Digne + Mina and bringing in Aaron Hickey (LB) as well as Nathan Patterson and Calvin Ramsay (RB) for possibly £30mil (as a total guess) would be very logical.

Also adding the Spanish u21 left back Sergio Gomes at circa £10mil would leave us looking like this:

LB: Hickey / Gomez / Nkounkou
RB: Patterson / Coleman / Ramsay

Probably loan out 2 of them until end of 22/23 season and thats strong competition along with a long term focus.

As for Mina leaving, we would still have Keane, Godfrey, Holgate and Branthwaite.

Come the summer, sell Keane and Holgate and reinvest in a top CB.

One other thing, bringing in £40mil+ in Jan (Digne/Mina) and another £20mil+ (Keane/Holgate) in the summer would not only equate to £60mil for FFP...

...it would give us alot more in wriggle room.

Exactly this, we never do deals before the windows open with the player coming in on the first day. I see other clubs do it like the RS but we seem to be scratching around for signings on the last day of the window....

To put that in to any sort of context, if we signed the player on the 1st day of the window we still would have played 20 Premier League games. Not many games to make an impact, obviously the later they come in the less games they have left.

The eternal optimist in me thinks we might just do it this time now we’ve got rid of that waste of space Brands. The Gray & Townsend deals came with no warning.

We are never getting 20m for Keane and Holgate.
