Well you're completely wrong.

Not surprised @davek liked this, he does love fake history.

I was under the assumption of first games of season so I stand corrected in a sense. 'BUT' seeing as Benitez started this season and has 18pts from the first 15 games then he has not got the worse record. Depends how we twist the stats. You win and I win but why 15 games, why not 10 games, 5 games or 38 games

So in today's lies from the Benitez Brigade we have had

 1. Rafael is the reason the saudi's bought Newcastle (@Theoneandonly)
 2. @ForeverBlue92 claiming he has never been convinced on Benitez and didn't want him here
 3. @banno making up results that never happened 15 years ago to try and paint Benitez as something other than a massive failure.

Have I missed any for the list lads?
Benitez has not had the worse start to a season was my point (well after a random 15 games anyway). You are basically implying that Benitez has the worse record on a 15 game run......he hasn't. So results are not made up they are historical truth (dare not say Fact). He still has a fare way to go before having a worse record than Moyes on a 15 game + run.

He’s crap

Isn’t a long term solution for this club so honestly why have him here

We won the match, can't you be happy for at least 24 hours? This thread is a disaster zone. Like him or hate him you should want him to stay because if he does that means Everton are doing well. If he doesn't then he gets the boot. We don't support the manager, it's the team.

Get rid we then take another punt on someone who may not want to roll their sleeves up and you go on limping from this to the next. All this kicking off has done is just strengthen Benitez's position at the club by making Brands the fall guy. That is not what I wanted but we have to deal with it now. Let's look forward to Palace and see with a bit of confidence can we get another result. We are going to win football matches this season and we are going to lose some, perhaps a few on the bounce, some of those will be directly his fault just as it would with anyone else in charge.

Let's hope he is able to bring in a few more players like Gray and Townsend, pad out the squad with players who can come in and do a job and then take us forward to be in and around the fight for European places (this might be next season), if he can then we have half a chance of a top manager coming in afterwards thinking he can build on something. No one is touching us now who would be a silver bullet and if there were such a thing you'd think one of the 6 we have already tried might have been it.

I don’t agree his hand has been strengthened at all - it’s probably weakened - although I’m sure both he and Moshiri think it has bolstered him.

All Brands removal has done is remove a layer of cover for him.

We can only compare like with like:

In 2010/11 Moyes took 16 points from the opening 15 games
This season Benitez has taken 18 points from first 15 games

We finished 7th that season under Moyes and I expect us to get pretty much near that this season under Benitez.
The stat was First 15 matches as Everton Manager. Move the goalposts again lads.

That season Moyes drew lots of games, 8 out of the 15. We lost 3 games by 1 goal, and one by 3 goals for 4 losses total. We won 3 matches, including a derby. We didn't get battered and we won a derby.

His form was nothing like this. It was frustrating watching us not win but at least we didn't lose constantly like we have done so far under Benitez.

So if we win, it's the fans.
If we lose it's the manager.

What happened to being in it together & being happy when we win?

That would suggest people are capable of learning from mistakes and history.
But, um, we’re Everton fans. Past masters in not learning.

I think its important to keep a measured approach, its no secret I didnt want Benny in charge like a few on here and he has had a very bad start and hasnt made the most of the players at his disposal, forget injuries we still had a good side that was better than was showing. Just because he won 1 game doesnt do alot to change my mind too much but that win did feel good.

To win people like me over I think he needs to improve results and I`m sure that goes without saying, no point winning against Arsenal then going to Palace and getting nothing and then to Chelsea where we wont get anything anyway. That`ll leave us in a very similar position with just 5 points from 33 which isnt good enough.

But if we can get a result at Palace and compete with Chelsea, Leicester are there for the taking IMO and beat Burnley and Newcastle then we are moving forward or in the right direction because soon after that the transfer window opens and hopefully we will have some ins to plug some gaps and give us squad depth. Obviously that remains to be seen....

For RB to get me on board he will need to do what he says, and that is top 7. If he said top 8, 10 whatever thats what I would judge him on BUT he has told us top 7 which right now is still in our reach. I long for the day when at the start of the season our aim is number 1 as big Nev says, but we all know that isnt realistic and I think we also need to be realistic.

I am very concerned he has more control and the quality of players that may come in, just look at his track record. For the good Gray and Townsend have done 32 year old Rondon may well have not been there, and we have to pay him! Absolute Donkey who needs to be put out to graze, offers little to nothing and we are stuck with him for another year and a half. We dont know who will come in or who he can attract, who we can sell or even if we have any money whatsoever, its just rumours so it will be a case of lets see... But I do worry he will go back for the like of Longstaff who is no better than 4 arguably 5 of our central midfield players.

Happy with the win but now we need to put a run together, I think that will dictate what happens to him with the fans, I`m unsure if he can turn this around purely from what I`ve seen but I will continue to support the team passionately because we all want one thing dont we? That is Everton to be successful and back at the top table of English Football. But dont forget we are Everton and that usually means we cant have nice things and nice things dont happen to us no matter what..... "Everton That" is real!

lol

Why are you insisting on first season in charge?

Very arbitrary.

The point being made is that bad starts to a season happen. It happened under Moyes...after he'd been here 8 years btw...and it's happened under Benitez...5 months into the job.

We'll have to wait and see, because Moshiri had the choice to bin Benitez or Brands and he decided to double down in the managers favour, I can't see him changing that path easily. There is still DBB and Kenwright to act as human shields yet and he's going to have complete control who comes and goes from the football club so to me everything is pointing to his position being strengthened compared to before Brands left.
