We didn't play any strong opposition with DCL in the team, so I would need to see us against a good team with him up front.

We didn't control the first 3 matches either. The first half against Southampton was dreadful for example.

The data set is too small either way to prove conclusively what Benitez wants to do, but for the first few games we started brightly and it wasn't the archaic defensive stuff people stereotype him with.

There's absolutley no reasoning with anyone who thinks being midtable - after a period of calamitous injuries and having been given less than £2M cash to spend - is the basis for sacking a manager.

^ this is it in a nutshell.

You can think Benitez won't be the answer. That's fine. But to do so after 12 games, write him off entirely and want him sacked is just so ridiculous that it's honestly laughable.

Give the bloke a bloody chance. Like any manager, if we're mired in relegation danger come January then he'll probably be sacked, it's the nature of the game. But you lot are absolutely praying for it because he dared to manage Liverpool once upon a time. That's what this comes back to, there's no other reason, and it's just so childish.

They'll be delighted if we get turned over at Brentford. Utterly delirious.

How have they let themselves be turned into that?

Agree lads.

No other manager would do any better with this squad and injury list.

I also agree wholeheartedly with the ‘childish’ remark there.

Those who are backing Benitez will look very silly when we prolong this experiment and it becomes humiliating. It's only heading in one direction and it's blatantly obvious what is going to happen.
who do you bring in to replace him... baring in mind we have a team that isn't fit for purpose and seemingly no money to improve it. Who's the man to succeed where so many others have failed? And who realistically would come?

I'm not pro Benitez but I'm just curious.

Imagine the faces in the boardroom if this gamble fails and they have to put all the saved wages from player sales towards sacking Benitez..... The everton way.

Dave, the writing is on the wall right now.

1 win in 9 and nothing that is indicating it is going to go better. You yourself are downplaying expectations for getting anything out of Brentford ffs.

We can revisit this in a month when we aren't midtable anymore. We haven't won a match in months. I can see us going another month before we finally do. It isn't good enough.

Fischer
Lampard
Rangnick
Emery

Probably an absolute ton of others if I thought about it longer. It's not my job to find a manager either, I'm not paid by the club.

That was my post from earlier but it's not fans job to scout managers and that was a list off the top of my head. I'm not an expert in world football

There will be plenty of managers who are interested, we are an attractive club in the most attractive league.

Keeping someone who is fundamentally the wrong choice is just de;laying the inevitable. We shouldn't be scared of the future, it's not like it can get much worse than this, and it can start to improve very quickly in football.
