If he gets better than 10th then he has not failed. 10th or lower is failure, because you always want to improve year on year.

I don't think he's capable of 59 points or 9th or better.

Nah, this isn't right mate. Well, not to say Klopp and Pep wouldn't struggle, they probably would, but they'd implement their system in place. Then would need better players to make that work.

Said it loads of times, a manager doesn't need the best players in the world to implement their style if they've got one.

Benitez has implemented his style already. It's just really crap and outdated.

Leeds were without Rodrigo, Bamford and Raphinha yesterday, for example. Two of their key players and a player who has been prominent for them recently. They still played like a Bielsa team, the basics were still there.

We've played exactly the same style this season whether our players have been fit or not. The issue is it's a really, really poor style of play.

There's a few managers - Ancelotti being one of them, Zidane is another - who do genuinely just go and say 'just play' and they don't have a style of play as such. Benitez kind of falls in between that camp and the 'philosophy' camp, but his ideas and tactics are really easy to suss and are just not good enough for the modern Premier League.

There's a reason no other PL team took him in 2019.

He's proper Allardyce, from the prehistoric footy to the arrogant attitude. Oh but he won a fluked Champions League nearly 20 years ago so we need to give him time to lose more matches.

Ancelotti did it with Calvert-Lewin holding the ball up - which is a massive difference - and Doucoure in midfield.

The injuries can't be understated. They've turned a squad that can win games with a bit of magic against poor teams due to that extra bit of quality into a squad which is right up there with Newcastle and Norwich as being the worst in the entire league.
 

He may not be the biggest problem at the club but he's definitely a problem. Thinking he's still capable of being a good manager after not being one for over a decade is delusional.

Except maybe their coaching skills of which Fatty has shown very little to nothing.
The team are going backwards with each and every game.
The players are getting individually and collectively worse as each game passes.

Of course it's right - how many managers do we have to go through until you recognise the pattern here? Ancelotti couldn't buy a home win last season with these bunch of wasters; how on earth do you expect anyone to get a tune out of them with the amount of injuries we currently have?

No manager would do any different, convinced of it, and the evidence to support that is overwhelming. Pretending Benitez is uniquely bad is just laughable and agenda driven.

And what does that have to do with our defending?

I can't remember Lukaku being blamed when we shipped goals under Martinez. It's ridiculous just how low the bar is getting here.

I've edited my post a bit.

Benitez, IMO, has implemented the style he wants already. It works a bit better with our better players but still hardly 100% convincing. It's not an exciting way of playing (fine), and in all honesty I don't see it being that effective in the long run either.

I'm not saying Benitez is uniquely bad. I just don't think he's very good, at all.

Bang on as usual. Benitez comes from the era of the 1 nil victory like Mourinho. That day has come and gone and the game is twice as fast nowadays. The blokes an absolute dinosaur.

Every manager we've had seems to love Keane. The club want Keane to stay over Mina, which is laughable.

Benitez didn't have to bring Iwobi on yesterday when Gray went off, but he did. And didn't change the system even though it suddenly was totally different because Iwobi, shock horror, cannot do the job Gray can.
