This has to be a sacking-level offense. They're as lost as Lampard's Chelsea was.
Smart ownership would summon Conte. (I like the image of Conte appearing in a puff of smoke and intoning, "You rang?") This ownership let Woodward drive the bus on transfers for a decade, because he made them money. My money is on them letting it ride until they just can't, the way Abramovich uncharacteristically did with Lampard.
To be fair, I don't think this is entirely on OGS. The squad is a mish-mash of name-brand parts largely purchased at great expense by others. I don't know that Conte can build a supercar from them, or even something more reliable than an old V12 Jag, but OGS is fielding a [redacted] billion-pound Delorean.
On a personal note, I would like to thank Ed Woodward for systematically dismantling the club I personally loathe above all others (due to their American fans, who I assure you all followed the Cowboys in the '90s) and giving every supporter of every club in the top half of the table hope at the beginning of the season that if injuries are a non-factor and everything breaks right, this just might be the season when we get into the Champions League.
