Y'know, when I started posting on this thread, what was going through my head was something like "Long proper crap? He's no Pele like, but that's a bit harsh. Let's get in there and give some perspective mebbe."

Now, I think I want him to do better than pretty much anyone not in an Everton shirt next year!

Not to try and prove meself right or anything, cause as I said, he may well flop (I just don't think that's as much of a given as most seem to).

I think the British "gotta support the underdog" spirit is kicking in

I don't know, mate. It's very reminiscent of the Messi vs Ronaldo debates. All quality, quality players. I'd go Beattie though.

Shane Long isn't even in the same league mate. Beattie is twice the player and three times the man.
