Hackney where I live has gone mental. Youths on the street. three or more helicopters in the sky, Sirens. All the shops are shut. The Texaco got looted.

Jesus I can hear them outside my window now.

get a bucket of water ready too.

stay safe lid.

The police are handling it with their usual incompetence and over aggressive tactics.

Apparently it started when about twenty white police tried to arrest two black lads in the busiest spot in hackney.

They haven't got a scooby doo.

You're forgetting mate. police have legal right to stop anyone they have cause to believe has been or intends to be involved in breaking the law. at any time on the street.

Or is hackney a no - go zone now?

Don't be blaming the police for this mate, this is about opportunistic bellends and nothing more.

Stay safe.

I'm down the road in Bethnal Green- was an interesting cycle home. Police cars screaming past with sirens blaring, hordes of people walking down from Mare St (presume the transport is screwed there), gangs of male youth hanging down side streets with purpose, all glued to their phones; riot vans rammed with police in full gear (in the van even, only eyes showing); helicopters overhead and all shops with metal shutters down and shopkeepers standing around looking nervous.

Wish they'd stop calling it protests and call it what it now is: opportunist w@nkers on the lookout for a free plasma tv.

NIce to see Boris has finally decided to come home from his holidays. On the THIRD days of rioting in his city. FFS.
