Nah, hoofball is all about playing the percentages. It's essentially gambling and not developing a system and way to play that can be reliably implemented to get us results. It's why lesser teams and lesser managers go to that style of play. It relies on a bounce or a moment of brilliance.

When Joe Royle took over in 1994 we were a right state, and the football he got us playing was nice and simple, getting the best out of the squad he took on. It got us out of trouble in the first season and he went on to start playing a more watchable style of play and went on to a sixth place finish in 95/96.

I never understood the criticism on Rafael. He is much more a fighting team coach than Ancelotti. Much as I think Carlo was a dream come true, Benitez is maybe better for part 2 into redeveloping.
