Just listened to the most recent Royal Blue podcast, and Phil Kirkbride said that the sense he had about Dumfries from talking to people around the club was that the hold-up wasn’t the money but rather that we weren’t yet 100% sold on him as our best option at right back.

Just reporting what was said. I did say take it for what it was worth. Gotta have something to talk about, though, right? The intellectual rigor of these last few pages aside.

Anyway - and again, I know, the Echo crew and all - the feeling was that right back was clearly the club’s #1 priority and that any more attacking changes would be one-in, one-out, i.e. unless we sell Kean, James, etc. them we basically go with what we have.

Even if it was true which I doubt it would be damning on the DOF that he's been chasing this fella even prior to the Euros and is still not decided on if he is even worth signing less than 3 weeks before the season kicks off.
