The performance second half from a lot of youngsters and Gomes was pleasing.

They all seemed to know what was expected of them; we had a manager in the technical area involved; we won a match against a team right in the middle of their season in with reason to be more match tight.

What is there in that to denigrate?
 
I have been informed that this is in fact the third significant trophy Everton has won in relatively recent times (i.e. in the third millennium AD). I was unaware we’d picked up some dairying trophy in Austria and forgot about our Sports Peeza heroics.
Truly, our brave lionhearts have spoilt us fans...showering us with silver..although I suspect some may be more hankering toward a golden equivalent .
Anyway, our club can clearly no longer be described as a sleeping giant...our laden trophy cabinet (rather ironically), lays that description to bed!
