Liverpool playing Harvey Elliott and Oxlade-Chamberlain as starters in two friendlies.
Well, they might be in the same position we're in this summer. Sell to buy and make do and mend.Their proper XI played the 2nd half.

Most clubs will be like that I believe.Well, they might be in the same position we're in this summer. Sell to buy and make do and mend.
They're recycling. They are but they've just sold two players yesterday for nearly £20m.
Arsenal and Villa have spent a bit as well, but overall the balance sheets are battered so expect very few big signings this summer. They're recycling.
Only City, Chelsea and United will spend big out of the PL.
Which is surely when fresh injections of capital into the game should be welcomed, but they have hamstrung themselves with their FFP rules.Arsenal and Villa have spent a bit as well, but overall the balance sheets are battered so expect very few big signings this summer.

10.5m for Grujic, a player with only 1 year left on his contract, and twice what they paid....something very fishy about the transfer fees to receive...
They're game plan just doesn't work anymore. It's been worked out. As much as the lack of impact signings they'll suffer from this summer, it's that underlying flaw around tactics that will see them struggle again this season. And what's interesting is they know it as well.
Pearce is busy writing what can only be described as propaganda pieces in the Athletic and the comments are filled with hundreds of reds whining.
I've always felt they were quite a dim bunch, but they're not that dim. They can see that the 3 teams you mention are going to be bringing in multiple top players (although Chelsea did last year) while Liverpool will have to make do with a lad who couldn't get into Leipzigs team (however much promise he has).
In fairness I thought they would get back above United next season (while remaining a long way behind City and falling a long way behind Chelsea) but if United get Varane to play next to Maguire, and Saul to be part of their squad rotation I'm not sure they even manage that.
For most normal people they would look at it and go theyve won a couple of trophies, which for where theyve been the last 30 years is pretty good, settle for that really. But a lot of them seemed to really drink the cool aid and think they were going to be some sort of dominant force for years to come. It's going to hit them hard when they become an Arsenal.
Their game plan as a club is to buy players for about £30 million, hope they do well for a couple of seasons, sell them for £100 million and then buy another 1 for £30 million. Covid and the financial problems at Madrid and Barca have put paid to that. They're game plan just doesn't work anymore. It's been worked out. I dont think so. If they had fresh blood into the team I'd say maybe.Fixed. They were back on the juice by the end of last season and will come roaring out the traps again here. Let’s just hope City’s own doping programme keeps them ahead of this lot and someone can dump them out of the CL.
