Computer games.

Meh I dunno - well priced for the spec, but the analog stick placement looks odd to me, as do the wide right positioning of the buttons, and controlling PC games with a touchpad is... awful, to be blunt.

I'm always wary of unupgradable PC tech. Plus, I dunno, I just prefer my PC games at a PC. It feels the 'on the go' gaming market is already covered by Nintendo.
Best thing about it is that it isn't Nintendo. They need proper competition in that sector to bring down their astronomical prices.

That's only for the base 64GB model as well. The 256GB model is £460 and the 512GB model is £570
Considering the recently announced Nintendo Switch OLED is £310 for 64GB I think that's pretty good value. Steam also state that there is no difference in performance betwen the three different priced models.

I don't own a Switch, but by all accounts Nintendo's games and periphals are vastly over priced. The joy cons are utter turd apparently and suffer from terrible stick drift. Many Switch owners were also unimpressed by the latest Switch update and were expecting something with a bit more power. I can see a lot of Switch owners being interested in this.

Has there been any gameplay on the device? Surely it doesn’t play the same as PC? (I literally have no clue, not being awkward)

I may be wrong but I believe it was only announced a couple of days ago. I didn't think so either, but with the reduced screen size etc. it may be possible. I'm really intrigued to see it in action.
Interested to see it when it’s out. Have a Series X so don’t need a PC but do have 80+ games on Steam just sat there that can’t be played so could be an option in the future

I think mid 2022 will see the first units shipped. It's made a really good impression amongst the tech community from what I can see. I don't have any need for one but I really want one because I'm so intrigued by it

Short version: I have a Switch. It is great. Joy-Cons have all kinds of problems. Pro Controller is awesome. Good feel, and durable. I have an extra one for my PC. Go that route if you buy a Switch.

A real PC and headphones is the best way to game, because you eventually make all of the investment back on the games, with interest. You buy a Switch if you have kids, like I do, or if you like Nintendo's exclusives. They make excellent games directed at casuals, and occasionally they have picked up hardcore gamer games like the various Monster Hunter games that were exclusives to the platform for a while.

I've just bought a PC and am discovering the wonders of PC gaming. It's great. No plans to buy another system any time soon, but in the unlikely case I end up getting a job that requires me to travel I'll probably get one.

Worst thing about consoles are how awful it is to use ranged weapons because of how bad aiming is with controllers. So many games are unplayable on consoles because of this. Also many strategy games and RPGs suffers because of the controllers.
