2020/21 Bernard

I always thought he was a good player for us. Especially in his first season on the left. I thought he linked up well with Dinge and reminded my a little bit of Steven Pienaar.

I understand why we have to let him go. I hope Iwobi follows him.
I thought he was going to be our new Pienaar too, small, quick feet and skillful... He didn't have a left back with a telepathic thought process though, I don't think you get many natural partnerships that Pienaar had with Baines. Also Bernard is too lightweight with no idea how to capitalise on it, Pienaar was fab at either getting a sneaky ball to his partner or going over for a free kick.... Intelligence is so important in the modern game and P had that in spades....in his pomp.

I thought he was about 33 not 28
Plenty of good years ahead of him
Give him another chance
Rafael can revitalise him
A future is there in a midfield of Bernie Siggy Delphy and Iwobi
Bernie and Iwobi can be interchangeable
Siggy and Delphy rotating
Are you being sarcastic? Might as well not watch Everton this year if those are our options. :(:(

Utterly lightweight. My abiding memory of Bernard will be of him bouncing off Manuel Neuer in the 7-1 World Cup semi-final when the German bent down to gather a ball and still flattened the Brazilian who emerged with a childish grin looking even smaller than his diminutive frame.

It's unfortunate that he's going to end up moving on. Good punt, just didn't work out.

Good business, won't end up having hurt us. It's like having a kid on a half-contract providing depth, but without the signing fee the kid commands.

Good servant, good man, wish him the best.

Never, ever good enough if we've got ambition. Another folly of a signing.

The math was fantastic. Brands should always roll those dice at that price. In on a free, out at a price, pay three years of wages? The math comes out to a player on half a wage providing depth if Brands fails to hit his number before rolling a seven, or rolls 2, 3 or 12 right off the bat. If he hits a 7 or 11 on the first roll, it's a massive win. The whole thing is such a no-brainer.

It's one of the reasons I have more respect for Brands than a lot of people seem to have.
