Firmly believe he wasn’t Brands’ choice and that he might walk over it. At the very least I think he would’ve raised the possibility of leaving.

funnily enough i read that as Brands has communicated the plans for the summer rather than he will make said plans.

Yeah maybe so, I would hope that is the case as the last thing we need is another set of players that play in a different managers style.

The whole "Marcel is a professional, I'm a professional" line screams an issue to me, coupled with the lack of quotes from Brands, it seems a questionable set up.

If he had any professional pride he would walk but at the mo he is getting paid handsomely to be a scout. Dont blame him at all, easiest DOF position in football.

Agree 100%. He clearly had no say in the manager hire and it’s pretty obvious that he only gets limited authority on transfer decisions. If they won’t let him make football decisions then what’s the point of having that role?

Fairly clear that the club gave him these positions as a sweetener for completely cutting him out of the new manager search. No way was Bentiez his choice and you could even read between the lines of Benitez' comments to see that this is potentially undermined him ("Brands is a professional and i'm a professional.").
