Ruben Neves available for £35m, obviously he’s probably gonna end up at a team playing in Europe but I think a 3 man midfield of him, Allan and Doucoure would be great. Would add goals from midfield which we’ve lacked immensely and is still very young.

We’d probably end up going for Danny Drinkwater or bringing Barkley back instead though.

Our issue is we don't just need to plug gaps in the first team we need back up too because our current back up offer very little.

I think he was very exciting when he broke through, but Hodgeson’s comments about him at the World Cup seemed to break him. Howeve4 there was some truth in them

He never recovered the initial glittering form, then forced a move that we all knew would be disastrous.

A talent wasted really.

I think Roberto overhyped him and he was always going to struggle to live up to it.
I remember on a podcast once, he (Martinez) was asked if he preferred Messi or Ronaldo - his answer - ‘Ross Barkley’

Neves is bang average and would only be inkeeping with the crabs we're trying to get away from.

We need pace and mobility in the middle.

I want him and Gylfi to have a cage match to determine who gets to take penalties and keep saying they score goals because of it

The next Mason Mount would be what we need in midfield. Pace, energy, goals.

Some of those might be among our best players but I'd not describe them as top talents.

And James who I would is basically 2/3s of a player because he gets hurt so much.

Not many bottom half teams can go out and buy 4 ‘top talents’ when they’re also massively restricted by FFP. You just keep moving the goalposts here. The players are good enough when you want to bash Carlo, yet when it comes to his transfer record they’re suddenly not good enough. Which is it?

Most of our current best players arrived last summer.

So, at the risk of being a party-pooper when the Mosh/Carlo axis of acquisition yields players we could only have dreamed of under Blue Bill, I will be applying two simple criteria for all of our signings:

1. Is he fast?
2. Can he defend?

If a player has both of these attributes, sign him up Uz!

I am therefore expecting a squad full of Kevin Ratcliffes going into next season.
