Yeah i'm with you there. In all seriousness though I hope Brands and Ancelotti have got a better idea now, because it definitely feels to me like the players we signed last year weren't signed with a formation or plan in mind, and were just brought in on the basis that they were better than what we had. Allan and Doucoure haven't looked like they can play together in a 2 to me, and James seemed to be just shunted round to wherever we thought we could get him on the ball more. If we can't buy 6/7 better quality players then we need to just work out how we want to play and bring in a couple of players who are going to allow us to do it.

2 strikers is old fashioned and only works if you have a competent midfield and mobility all around the park.

it's interesting, i watched that United Way on sky last night and they talk about the 80's briefly and how despite winning the FA cup a couple of times United fans craved the league but 'Liverpool were all conquering in the league in the 1980's'. No mention of us at all at all other than a quick shot of Norman Whiteside scoring that goal. Our 83-87 teams are almost completely forgotten by the rest of football.

That’s the frustrating thing had we beat Utd, and won the double, we’d never be forgotten tiredness caught up with us because 3 months later at the charity Shield It was men v boys. I remember John Motson on commentary losing his s*** became Utd couldn’t get out of their own half

And of course had that team won a European cup, it would have also helped With the longevity of how good that side was. When the talk comes up about the biggest teams, Villa always get a mention because of 82. Ipswich tossed the league away in 81 and 82 got battered in the 82 final.

Unfortunately luck will always play a part in success.

I think this is a no brainer If the price is not outrageous. Signed 2 players from relegated sides last season too so it could be a plan.

Neves is fantastic and would add some much needed creativity to midfield. Would require both Allan and Doucoure being fit all season to play next to him though, or another CM with good set of legs to cover the mobility that he lacks.

Always think West Ham's is absolutely amateur hour. They have genuine ITK's on Twitter who can reveal the starting lineup for games and all sort of transfer activity.

A young manager. Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of obvious talents but building young emerging teams isn't one of them.

We dont know this either way. What we do know is that DCL and Godfrey have improved...

If we hired a young manager then its a coin toss.

Not sure about him. He's pretty slow and not very mobile and he had a pretty poor season at Wolves.

I posted about Neves before Wolves signed him...hes top quality.

£35mil is a bargain for someone.

Not us though, we need more pace in the middle and im sticking with Kamara at Marseille.

Hes probably worth £35mil himself but with one year on his deal and them needing the money -- £20mil.

If we sign him then i think everyone would love him.

Id not fancy Allan and Neves in the centre...
