Big, strong, quick 22 year old centre forward.

Plays for Nantes and France U21s. Nantes just got relegated and he was their best player...

For depth up top seems like a cheap deal could be done...£10mil ish is my guess.
Is he Good enough to be backup cf?

Played 37 (35 starts + 2 sub)
3042 minutes / 34 games
9 goals + 4 assists

Nantes finished 3rd bottom and the boy is 22.

The standard of the French league is so far below ours that unless you're grabbing twenty a season over several seasons then you aren't worth a punt at anything over 10m as the potential for wasted money is huge.

5m then sure I guess but we need something more oven ready for the league than this.

Im a bit confused about this line of thinking.

Why wouldnt Ancelotti want 5 high potential u23s? He could mould them into a team...not Nkounkou types...Fofana / Bailey / Diaby types.

It was obvious he was going to be a star when he was at Anderlecht. Even at Monaco where he was derided by some on here he was their best player.

Im happy seeing if Pickford can continue his performance level...needs a backup though...not olsen.

Thats a cheap fee for Maignan
Because Moshiri is paying ancelotti roughly 50mil over his contract, he wants to get to where we’re going, a lot quicker. Whether it will work time will tell.

If that’s the group of players we want, then they may as well hired a young exciting coach from Germany.

I think we will sign players of the group you mention, but they won’t be all under 23.
Aarons, Bailey then maybe another more experienced forward and a CB of similar age. I could be wrong, but I don’t see us signing a Young CB, unless Holgate goes.

the Midfielder could go either way

Well, for a 22 year old in a now relegated side was he ever going to have scored 20+ goals a season over several seasons?

I think with that age its about potential and what he has done in that particular team.

Btw, not someone id have earmarked as a signing but there seems to be logic to the link at a discounted price.

Weve tried an array of managers under Moshiri and all have failed.

To me the Ancelotti hire doesnt necessarily mean afterburners on...and we sign short term players every summer.

It could just mean that Moshiri has bought the best available manager possible to safeguard the investment into the team going forward.

From a risk perspective, who do you want building and managing a young emerging team -- a young manager or Carlo Ancelotti?

For me, its Carlo Ancelotti.

I didn't pay close enough attention... is it not a cheap deal?

A young manager. Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of obvious talents but building young emerging teams isn't one of them.

I’ve just been looking through the transfers from the 82-84 period and looked at how that team was put together.

It wasn’t done in one season and there were an awful lot of players getting moved on each year. There were three or four key players brought in each season.

In the end though, the spark that brought it together was a bit of luck in a cup game, the rest is history.

Let Carlo do some squad building and let’s hope for that spark of luck.

There seems to be a belief that Carlo can’t build a squad. All he ever does is fine tune existing well assembled teams.

It seems to me that having worked in football for so long he will understand the transfer market and know what he wants to improve in the squad.

He will surely know the need to balance youth with experience and has been quite happy to use Godfrey extensively. His success is likely to prove a bit of a blueprint for Carlo and Brands this summer, pace and athleticism.

We have to go back to 1982 - 1984 to see what the last decent everton side was? Story of my life turning up to the party too late.
