Everton Summer transfers 2021

I like trippier, couple of things that go against him, obviously his age. And injury prone apparently, he has played 52 la liga games since he joined. And that included a ban.

The pros he’s a good player, experienced, good going forward. Will have been coached very well by Simone, from a defensive point of view. He’s only a year left on his deal. Could we get him for 10mil? Do Everton think he will do a good job for a couple of years. And maybe we have an excellent young RB in the youth set up. So why pay 30/35 for an Aarons or someone similar.

I like Trippier myself although the last thing we need is more injury prone players.

Personally think we need the following:

RB
RW
CDM (cover/rotation for Allan/Doucs)
CAM (cover/rotation for James)
ST (cover for DCL)

You're talking a good £100-150 million spend required this summer.

Pace on the right hand side is essential so the likes of Leon Bailey + Aarons would make sense. Midfield Bissouma/Zakaria/Sangare depending on budget + Coutinho and up top some galoot we can chuck off the bench with 10-15 minutes to go to launch crosses at Giroud/Dzeko for a few quid would make sense.

I would only go for Demiral/Koulibaly type CB if we offloaded Mina or Holgate otherwise would leave that position for another season.

As Baz said on Toffee Tv if we balls this summer up Brands has to go its as simple as that.

RB, RW, CM - all of them powerful runners who can carry the ball and are comfortable in possession. The RW and CM also will need to help take the creative responsibility off James.

The rest can be added to but those are the priorities right now as the squad stands imo.

Then we look at another forward, another wide player depending on what's happening with Gordon, another CB if we sell any of the ones we have atm.

Bissouma will cost a lot of money . And I’d imagine one or two bigger clubs In for him. Zakaria I don’t know to much about but seems to have a lot of hype around him. And sangare ended up in the Dutch league for a reason.

But we definitely need another midfielder, maybe 2

The concern is the midfield dont look great when James/Doucoure/Allan are together yet I doubt any will be moved to the bench unless injured.

Maybe going back to 433 may help but as good as James is I would happily have him benched for a powerful box to box midfielder alongside Allan with Doucoure given more licence to get forward and make runs into the box.

James off the bench as a super sub which would likely keep him off the treatment table more.

I don’t mind trippier as a player and you’ve set out a reasonable case for getting him but don’t you think this team needs some lads who can get round the pitch a bit more. He’d feel a bit like some of the other signings - not bad players in and of themselves but not a good fit for the team as it currently is

Well that's why we needed the winger last summer in my mind mate, but now we need both a midfielder and a winger.

We shouldn't have this idea of a starting XI. It never happens consistently, there's just too many games and our luck with injuries - and our crap way of preventing them clearly - don't help.

being able to rotate players is absolutely fine and what should always happen for successful teams.

Banged on about it all last summer/January I know, but one fast winger would have completely changed how we could play because it gives us options, whether to play them from the off, or from the bench, in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 or 3-4-3, whatever. It's all about options.

I don't have a problem with James playing from the right in a free role as he was early on in the season. To make that work though, you need a dynamic RB and to be able to play a higher line (hence the links to a new CB too).

If James is going to play centrally, I think we absolutely need a new midfielder (we would in a 433), but it would be Doucoure who drops out in that scenario as he seems to be much better as a box to box player in a 433 than he does as one of two holding players in a 4231

If we buy a defender - centre back or full back - can we please put the following on the job description:

Must be able to defend competently.

I don't care how good somebody is as an attacking wing back if they are incapable of making a tackle, positioning themselves properly, or stopping crosses.

Throw the kitchen sink at Pedro Goncalves from Sporting - a proper goal-scoring midfielder with plenty of energy to get around the pitch.

*although they've just won the Portuguese league so chances of him coming here are slim.
