Kamara who wouid cost 20mil and Rabiot. Ok that’s maybe unlikely. But he can be left and Allan right. That would be the strongest midfield 3 if we got them players

Or somebody else if we couldn’t get Rabiot.
And Doucoure as a quality option. And Davies as the sitting cover. And Gbamin as well.

If Doucoure Is asked to just be aggressive around the middle of the pitch and pressing high and driving into the box, that’s what’s he’s good at. Ask him to sit and try and dictate like last night and it’s a waste of time, he hasn’t the technical skills.

It’s mad how ancelotti plays the system with them 2. That just doesn’t work.
It's almost as if, regardless of the system in question, they are the only two midfielders at the club who are vaguely functional footballers.

Do we need better midfielders? Er, yes. But a year ago we needed better midfielders too, and we DIDN'T have Allan and Doucoure. That's why the club bought them. For a combined total fee of less than £50m.

Whatever system we settle on for next year, our existing personnel grouping doesn't contain a starting-standard DM /6. The immediate impact that would result from adding such a player really can't be overstated.

I'd honestly consider offering Leeds a wedge for Kalvin Phillips - he helps the home-grown quota (which will take a hit when Walcott, Bolasie and hopefully Delph leave), he's in the right age bracket and he's been performing well in the Prem. We can obviously cover his wages given the impending departures of Walcott, Bolasie and Besic (plus others) so it's only really the initial fee that would be an issue.

I like Kamara and Guimaraes.

But could you imagine if we signed Kessie and Bissouma and had Doucoure/Allan/Davies in the mix as well.

That would be the stuff of dreams signing two physical, aggressive but quality monsters.

Toney has good numbers and Philips seems very effective in leeds system.

For me though, id be looking at:

1× CB: Bastoni, Kounde, Tapsoba, Militao, Araujo

1× RB: Hakimi, Emerson, Aarons

2× DM/CM: Kessie, Guimaraes, Kamara, Tchouameni, Bissouma, Camavinga,Bellingham, Gravenberch

Bring in 4 of those and we'd be top 6 at a canter before even looking at attacking options.

I like that were linked with Leverkusens Diaby and Bailey. Pace in abundance...

Haven't read the previous messages on the thread, but I assume everyone is saying a) we have a good attack in dcl, rich, b) ditto our defence decent (an up and coming RB would be nice though) c) we have a great CDM in Allan, and possibly Gebamin d) we need a completely new middle 4 - two new attacking CMs, a speedy left winger, a right winger.

I'm not having a go at you, honestly. But do YOU think there is room for him to be used in the role you describe in the starting eleven? You've described a role that isn't a midfielder, isn't a striker and isn't a ten.
Not really, no. In many ways hes a poor mans luxury player.

He wasn't, I don't think he was great but he wasn't much worse for sure, but everyone hated the signing so short of starting his career banging in goals like Lingard did to start at West Ham he was always screwed.

Lots of one footed player succeed too so it doesn't concern me at all. Our best two players are also probably the most one footed in the squad.

I don't think everyone hated the signing. I was hopeful he'd come good and even this time last year I wanted us to stick with him.

But he's crap. He's really crap.

Odriozola on the way?

One player Everton have been linked with in the last few weeks is Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Odriozola, someone who could move to England on a two-year loan deal.

The 25-year-old was signed from Real Sociedad for €30m (£26m) but rather unsurprisingly, hasn’t been afforded too many opportunities at the Bernabeu.

Pity we have zero chance of signing at least 50% of that list.
