Everton Summer transfers 2021

Wait until those other teams you're buying from know that you have 100 millions plus available and you'll be lucky to be able to afford 2 top players at most...

I think teams know by now that we have money behind us but last summer Brands was able to negotiate some great prices.

Pickford
RB - CB - Godfrey - Digne
Doucoure - CM - Allan
RW - DCL - Richarlison

That's the minimum - but add another CF to that mix and ideally another wide player if we manage to somehow get shot of Bernard and Iwobi. Didn't put James in there as he can't be relied upon to be fully fit for the majority of the season. Pace, energy and determination the three key traits for any player coming in.

If were doing 433

Pickford
??? ??? Godfrey Digne
Doucoure ??? ???
??? DCL Richarlison
Same as yours but id take Allan out as well...for the same reasons youve omitted James, but also because of the players age.

Im really eager to see who we sign at RB as theres hardly any young emerging top notch players out there who arent already at tier one sides.

Also the CB and DM positions are crucial to enable us to get the ball moving forward.

Godfrey and Doucoure have stunk all season aside from the opening stretch when James carried that 4-3-3 for Abdoulaye and the stretch at LB where Godfrey was a solid one dimensional fullback.

Iwobi + Gomes = Good
Doucoure + Godfrey = Bad

You're an endless supply of hilarious vaulting.

"Its simple for me - you appoint a Howe/Dyche/Moyes you are happy to join the likes of Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Watford and Bournemouth in this league whilst the likes of the top 6 + Leicester and Wolves fight for Europe."

December 2019 - since then Dyche has finished above us spending absolute penauts whilst we threw £115 million on transfers last season and made me reassess whats actually required at Everton.

People can keep deluding themselves that Everton can attract the world class players that Carlo works with without European football to make us great all they like but the reality is since Moyes we've thrown away grit/hard work/pride and replaced it with nothing but style and no substance.

Thats not me slating Carlo he's a top manager who should be given next season but I sincerely doubt much will change him or any other manager until you bring in someone who values those above qualities and drills it into the squad.

And if we aren't going to utilise a 433, we STILL need:

RB
DM
CM cover / competition for Doucoure
Wide right forward / winger

4-2-3-1

Pickford
?? - ?? - Godfrey Digne
Doucoure - ??
?? - Siggy / James - Richarlison
DCL

We shouldn't be building a side around either James or Sigurdsson. One is injured too often and the other is too inconsistent and should be a bit part player.

I know the pubs opened today again pal, presume you was there for 11am judging by the absolute gash you are chatting?

I agree mate, I'm not suggesting we should BUILD a team around them - just demonstrating how they can in theory be utilised.

We have no-one else to play in that 10 position so if we are going to use a 4231, they are going to be the personnel in contention. We already have too long a list of needs as it is, we can't realistically hope to pick up a starting-standard 10 this summer too. Conversely if we decide NEVER to use a 4231, that means at least one of them is sitting on the bench for 25+ games per season, on criminally high wages.

If some random Chinese, Qatari or MLS club comes in with £30m for Gylfi however...

I personally don't want to see any formations with a no.10. It's an old fashioned position which rarely works in the premier league. We should be looking to play 433 with box to box midfielders in support. Liverpool got far far better when Coutinho left and they stopped having a 10.

I prefer my starters to be:

Pickford
Godfrey
Digne
Doucoure
DCL
Richarlison

6 players...

We could have possibly landed Militao for £30mil from Madrid last summer...he'd be ideal for a higher line. He's now cementing a place for Madrid now after waiting so long.

Emerson at Betis/Barca was also available for £20-25mil.

Such a missed opportunity last summer to bring in those two -- but of course money doesnt seem to have been available due to FFP.

Hopefully we push the boat out this summer.

I’d have Allan over Doucoure all day. Allan unfortunately has been asked to play a holding role, which he isn’t really suited too. He looked so much better when Davies( who’s a bang average sitting midfielder) plays that role

So let’s get a top class number 6 and give Allan more freedom

Id leave him and James out simply because they 'arent the future' though can come in and make an impact.

Ideally for me Allan would be rotating with Doucoure and another player in the centre to keep him at peak levels....i wouldnt be starting him every game.

We definitely need a 6. Ive been saying that all season...Guimaraes or Kamara for me.

Whatever system we settle on for next year, our existing personnel grouping doesn't contain a starting-standard DM /6. The immediate impact that would result from adding such a player really can't be overstated.

I'd honestly consider offering Leeds a wedge for Kalvin Phillips - he helps the home-grown quota (which will take a hit when Walcott, Bolasie and hopefully Delph leave), he's in the right age bracket and he's been performing well in the Prem. We can obviously cover his wages given the impending departures of Walcott, Bolasie and Besic (plus others) so it's only really the initial fee that would be an issue.

Kamara who wouid cost 20mil and Rabiot. Ok that’s maybe unlikely. But he can be left and Allan right. That would be the strongest midfield 3 if we got them players

Or somebody else if we couldn’t get Rabiot.
And Doucoure as a quality option. And Davies as the sitting cover. And Gbamin as well.

If Doucoure Is asked to just be aggressive around the middle of the pitch and pressing high and driving into the box, that’s what’s he’s good at. Ask him to sit and try and dictate like last night and it’s a waste of time, he hasn’t the technical skills.

It’s mad how ancelotti plays the system with them 2. That just doesn’t work.
