I just see a lot of people when something goes wrong blaming the individuals when the while thing is a mess. I look at someone like Andre Gomes who isn't that bad and is made to look like a buffoon all the time. He's clearly a PL level player but we refuse to even attempt to get him in situations that cover up what he isn't good at. That's not totally his fault yet we just pan him over and over instead of the bigger picture.

And yeah that's probably just on here.
Gomes is a good player being asked to play in a role he’s not very good at.

His game is ideally not based around athleticism. He can't pass on the right because he can't use his right foot unless he aims it backward. That's the whole issue. He has no left and needs to be in a spot where he's not forced to use it.
Can I just double-check something here please @TheBigIguana ? Is the above assessment (written by yourself) about Alex Iwobi?

And similarly, can I just ask you to confirm that you meant to type what you posted here, highlighted by myself for emphasis?

It is the other way around imo.
We would get more than 25m each for both Keane and Mina.
We will not get near 50m for Kean.

Earlier i posted Kean+Mina+Keane would bring us close to £100mil.

Id actually say £85mil approx.

Then some other sales e.g bernard, kenny, iwobi etc should take us to £100mil and if were lucky enough to shift Gomes...over that amount.

£100mil from Moshiri and we can do a big rebuild.

@TheBigIguana you rate Iwobi AND Gomes?

Seriously...AND Gomes?

One is an anomaly...two is...i dont have the words lol

I think he would do really well now in the Spanish or Italian leagues where the football is a little less hectic.
I don't disagree, I think he's a good player. But I just don't see that many teams being willing or able to pay a big fee and big wages to him, given his injury problems and the fact that his stock has effectively gone down rather than up since we signed him. It's not that he's rubbish, but £25m+ is a huge signing for 95% of teams in the world and I'm not sure Mina has done anything to put himself in that bracket.

I think a Mina sale is done....wouldnt be surprised to see Mourinho bring him in at Roma.

Where would you deploy him to make better use of the fact that he cannot move at more than walking pace and cannot tackle?
Id start off by not asking him to play defensively in any way, as hes clearly not capable of doing that job. He ends up hanging around the middle of the pitch doing nothing but hesitate or run, hesitating doesnt help anyone and running is clearly not his strong suit. Id ask him to stay further up the pitch, not like a 10, but ahead of Allan and Douce, mainly looking to pass the ball forward or shield it until other players get into better positions. Thats what hes good at when firing at all cylinders. If theres no room for that in the starting 11 I wouldnt play him.

You guys actually think Gomes now is so bad that he shouldn't even be in a PL team? I don't think he's that awful which is all I'm saying. Not that he's good.

I maybe wouldn't go that far, but he's a PL level player with flaws that a good system could hide enough that he isn't the complete liability he is at times for us. Put him in a three man midfield and he's at least passable. Give him real tackling and defensive positioning around him and he can be really solid like when he had Gueye.

Squad players at PSG are very good players in some cases. Di Maria isn't an automatic pick for example.
Yes actually, he is.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angel-di-maria/leistungsdaten/spieler/45320

He's made 41 appearances, 33 of which have been starts. He's only been an unused sub three times. He's missed eleven games through injury and suspension this season. Started in eight CL games, subbed on in two more.

You'll be wanting a different example to prove your point.

Iwobi is useless wherever he plays and Gomes the slug isn’t good enough with the ball to be given a free role. Both need firing into the sun

I'm not having a go at you, honestly. But do YOU think there is room for him to be used in the role you describe in the starting eleven? You've described a role that isn't a midfielder, isn't a striker and isn't a ten.
