Mirror linking us and Spurs with Danny Ings £30mil.

While I'd be very happy with Ings, and am happy to see us linked, I can't imagine they get £30m for a 29 year old with 12 months on a deal. If the figure was around half that it would make some sense though.

I am also not wholly convinced Spurs will have that sort of money to throw about.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ancelotti's big signing was a centre half. He seems to prioritise building from the back. I wouldn't be surprised to see Koulibally sign for about £60 million. I know Moshiri wanted him when he first bought the club. I'm not sure that should be our priority, but we have to trust the manager.

I'm not usre we have to pay 60m for him mate, but the rest seems spot on.

I would be hugely surprised given the many glaring issues elsewhere.

They are the sort of signings I think we need to become more aggressive with. Compared to the English teams, we can show a clear pathway to the 1st team. I apprciate the German teams can do this even more so than us, but we need to be able to present as a viable alternative to Dortmund.

In honesty, being objective, I think the lad could do a lot worse than stay with Sheffield United on the basis of 1st team football.

...yep. Canadian born. Big lad, has made his 1st team debut but a bit surprised he was on loan at Chorley if they thought he was a star in the making.

I think he'd look at DCL taking the same path and want to move. He'd probably back himself to be training with our players and improve himself knowing theres a pathway.

i think Ings would be a good buy for £20-25mil if were rotating with DCL/Richarlison and sign younger players aside from this one experienced signing.

Could be good to have that experience up top in the squad on a 3 year deal with a club option for a 4th season.

£60mil would buy a Bastoni, Kounde, Tapsoba, Araujo.

If were going to sign a centre back i hope were going through that list.

Any of those players comes in and theyre instantly one of the best in the league + with Godfrey and Digne we'd only be short a right back.

He could do yes, I think overall we need to be a bit more aggressive with younger players and highlight the successes we have more.

As for Ings, I still think 25m is a little steep, but yes he's a smart, relatively low risk option. He's also quite versatile, and can play in a 2.

I think Ings would be more suited to a team like Brighton, who make loads of chances but just can't score.

That said, a younger player of his type, playing around DCL would be an interesting option.

My attempted realistic take on the summer.

Outs:
Walcott, Bolasie, Pennington, Bowler, Broadhead, Connolly, Besic, King, Olsen, all contracts expired.

Delph £3m. Bernard £5m. Kenny £3m. Kean £45m. Tosun out on loan again till his deal expires.

Total outs, ~£56m. Huge wages saved, approx £600k p/w on the above.

Try to shift Iwobi and Gomes if possible.

Ins:
Keeper on a free - Rui Silva from Granada has been linked, first team competition without eating into our budget. Romero is decent too.

RB - Someone with pace who gets up and down who can cross, like Aarons but not necessarily him. Can see us spending approx £25m.

CM - A #8. We’ve got Allan, Tom and Gbamin for deeper. We need someone like Gomes but much better, or another Doucoure type. I do like Anguissa, so someone like him. Again, can see us spending about £25m.

RM - Iwobi isn’t up to it and James is always going to miss games. We need to spend biggest here. Love the look of Leon Bailey but he won’t come cheap. This is where I see us spending £30m+. LM isn’t so urgent, Rich is first choice and I suspect Gordon will be back up next year.

CF - Tosun, King and Kean won’t be here next year. Don’t think we can afford to spend big here however unless we sell a centre back and promote Branthwaite, or a big offer comes in for Rich so we can buy both a LM and a CF. Otherwise, don’t see us spending more than £15m on a striker.

Potential spend ~£95m. Net spend of ~£40m, with less wages and far less bodies on the bill overall.
I agree almost completely. Given what we've seen from Brands so far though, I expect us to sign Olsen for the GK spot, assuming Olsen is willing to stay.

I also think we'll give Ellis Simms a go as the 3rd striker. Tosun probably won't be able to leave this summer so I think we'll give Simms a go until January and then maybe find another King-style deal if it doesn't work out.

We are definitely going to be after a CB.

I remember them wanting 35 for Hjojberg leading up to last summer, ended up with 15

I think it will be less than that. Rumours are Napoli want to sell. Do you they need money?

Apart from Koulibaly, they other players they could get serious money for, are the young striker they bought last summer, but unlikely to get their 80mil back this summer. And Fabian Ruiz who at 25 they may be waiting for Barca & real to get back on their feet, so they can get top dollar fir him in a year or two
