When the camera panned to the Leicester fans as a goal of that quality was scored in a cup final to take the lead I SO wanted that moment for Everton fans - and to go on and win.

I'm pleased for Leicester as a club and their fanbase. I hope that other clubs outside of the media's six repeat the feat in coming years.

Really pleased Leicester won, was great to see their fans cant help but be envious!
That said VAR is absolute trash, just takes something out of the game, the raw emotion of a goal is now seeded with doubt and so biased towards the defending team instead of rewarding attackers. Needs binning even though this time I was eased it stopped them Cockney, yes Cockney biffs getting back in it.

Well yes it needs to actually work to be worthwhile.

Change the rules then. Offside has always been tight it's just that often calls were wrong on both sides. This advantage thing may be what the rule was for but it was never written like that as far as I know.

The rules were written to essentially be enforced by a human refs vision which would account for things such as a hand being on or off whereas VAR just takes the human element away from it which is the issue.

Only thing they could do is make it so offside only applies to parts of the body that an opponent can legally score from which would put an end to someone's finger being offside

It cant be as I've seen plenty of offsides given this season by VAR for hands etc being off.

Patrick Bamford was given an offside for pointing where he wanted the ball to be played!!

No, he’s right. Offside only applies to parts of the body you’re allowed to score with. That’s why you’ll often a lines drawn going to the arm pits/shoulders.

As somebody who's Dad was defo a cockney I can say that this statement is false.

On a side note I heard somebody refer to Luton as cockney once. It is just one very simple bit of knowledge that only people born within the sound of the bow bells are cockney.

It does irritate me when people think that all Londoners are cockney or know it not to be true but say it anyway. Like when people called a former colleague from Runcorn, a scouser. Proper grated on me.

Of course you’re right about this. Was only confirming what the rule is. Someone proposed a while back that we should adjust the rule to say if any part of the body that can score is level with the defender, than consider it onside rather than if any part is beyond them. Might make things a little clearer and provide the benefit to the attack rather than defense. It’s always such fine margins.

As people have said, the rule is any goalscoring part of the body. The issue is, as you also correctly state, is that in most cases I am seeing is that they are using the arm, it may be that they are trying for the shoulder but it is so fine lines that a lot of the time the body position does not allow for this to be judged effectively or fairly.

For me, there is no question that there has to be an element of doubt. For example, a certain distance between the lines to conclusively say that the attacking player was gaining a clear advantage.

I watch a lot of Rugby and the TMO process is used correctly, it could be more obvious as you get to hear the decision making process from all officials. It can be annoying if a try is scored and then they go back 5/6 phases to find that a pass had gone slightly forward, etc. but it generally is a good process and works. As I said though, you hear/see the process clearly and an audience whether in the ground or at home. We now get to the issue of respect and communication of the officials and I think we can all agree the respect and trust in football is just not there.

Thing is, if it is changed there will be an incident which causes outrage, so there will be another rule change.
