Everton Summer transfers 2021

....I read the Fulham fans forum earlier. They generally seem to like him, although some say he’s overrated. Physical ‘monster’, but poor in possession, gives the ball away in dangerous positions and offers nothing in the top third.

Sounds a Doucoure type.
Yeah, not for me thanks

He's not. His family are Blues, he was an Evertonian as a youth and may be more lenient than other Kopites, but he really isn't a blue any more.

During a derby match, even privately and away from the camera, he openly supports the RS.

Is that why at his testimonial everton got a penalty and carragher ran up and scored it. Then after the match he said he alwasy wanted to score for everton against Liverpool.

Yeah I think from what I've seen his work in the final third needs to improve - that final pass etc.

But then again, same can be said for plenty of players.

We need power and athleticism in midfield so that James (and that winger we need too) can get the ball and do his stuff.

I think Soumare has gone to Leicester mate.

I'd say Berge and Anguissa would be similar stylistically but probably better versions of Gomes.
They're being tipped but by no means a done deal mate.

But yeah, agree. Do think there could be better out in Europe mind. I'd prefer Anguissa over Berge, though Berge is still very highly rated. Wasn't helped by the injury this season obviously.

Anyone talking up Loftus-Cheek must be getting a fee from Chelsea.

His one decent game was against us, surprise surprise, but he's been anonymous in that Fulham side. Lovely academy player, strong, shields the ball but doesn't do anything with it.

Anguissa plays deeper, breaks up play, can carry the ball or move it quickly forward. He also runs about a bit, which is nice, because it might mean he gets a couple of games before being slaughtered on here.
Anguissa is the kind of player this forum will hate because he actually tries to use the ball which means sometimes he gives it away. He's also got a bit of a questionable touch on occasion.

We could also just play him in a role that doesn't require him to be great in the final third. He does more than enough in midfield to allow it.

Yeah, that's a better way of putting my point across tbf.

Doucoure, for me, from an attacking perspective is best when he's not running with the ball - which he doesn't do very well tbh - but instead attacking the space.

Look at his goals v Fulham and Rotherham - that's what I think we need Doucoure to do.

It's why I'd want to see a midfield of him, Allan and Davies for the last few games but that really requires James to be fit to play in the front three, unless Gylfi can play there or King (lol) gets a shot.

But yeah, moving forward, if we can get in a midfielder who isn't just a sitter, but can alternate and free others up, then that's great. The hope would be that Gbamin could do it but I'm honestly unsure if we'll ever find out.

Agreed on Doucoure. Was thinking about it and his effectiveness is entirely based on James picking up the slack in possession. Otherwise he's just gliding around doing nothing and the ball doesn't move well enough.

Well I mean I don't agree that he does nothing. I think our record without him - 1 win in 8 - speaks for itself.

Doucoure adds a lot to our midfield. Most of that is his physical attributes, granted, but like you say it's about having other players to do the stuff he can't.

We have to build that way, but we've consistently been left short in the last few windows and those players we've been left short of are players that would be crucial.

I need to start seeing a change in performances when he plays.
