It was the kind of relentless media backlash (front page news, sky sports discussion, HoC etc) that a lot of the football's biggest issues (ticket prices, tv sub prices, state-owned clubs) don't usually get. This should be used as a catalyst. It really should be European bans for all 12 next season.

It was a dreadful concept, badly executed, but the top teams aren’t going to stop agitating.
I don’t think punishment is the answer, though it would be delightful. What actually needs to change is some rules and legislation that prevent those sort of actions ever happening again without discussion and approval of the wider football community.
If they just punish, then next time they will make sure it is a success.

Punishment has to happen along with rule changes and regulations. What these clubs did can't go unpunished. There has to be some sort repercussions for their betrayal and their greed.

I agree with that. But their threats have proven to be impotent before it even got to the point of bans, fines or point deductions. The clubs don’t look strong, they have embarrassed themselves like a 15 year old that threatens to move out of their parents house but just ends up sulking in their bedroom.
