Champions League revamp

I'm not completely against the idea of trying to have competition of this nature in American sports but it would take a loooooong time to do. Historically speaking the system was set by baseball which had a fossilized hierarchy of leagues basically by the 1920s. The combination of minor leagues in baseball and college leagues in football and basketball has made it so that no one is really arsed that relegation and promotion don't exist. Or at least to this point they've never really been.

Part of that is because the leagues are actually pretty fair. Yes the Lakers have a greater pull than the Warriors but who has won more in the last decade? That can't really happen in soccer because mechanisms like salary caps and drafts aren't a thing so promotions and relegations are what fills that void. It's just different and I'd say most everyone here is fine with how it goes. I mean I would love if my city had an NBA team again and it would be great if they had a second tier team that instead of being a feeder was actually out for itself and trying to challenge for a spot but that isn't what we've got so I just enjoy it how I do now.

My mate (RS) text me saying none of the clubs should be punished because it's unfair on the fans, staff and players etc.

Whilst I agree it's unfair on them something has to be done otherwise they'll just try again.

Tell the rs mate how unfair the aftermath of heysel was on not just us and our fans but english football aa a whole and fans of english clubs all being labelled hooligans.

Sky already started to change the narrative. They've just claimed they've spoken with a "source" at one of the club's involved who said they did it because uefa have a monopoly on the competitions and won't listen to anybody.
