In a competition where they pay you way more than now and there is no risk to be eliminated or relegated, why would a player actually put effort in it?
I would just grab my money and go walking up and down the field.
For a couple of years you would do it for the glory. After that? Any team who will have no chance to go to the play off will just have their players doing the bare minimum because there would be no real consequences.
I won't exactly call it thrilling spectacular football.

The proof is in formats like NFL, NBA or IPL Cricket - A big part of being an elite player is wanting to be the best there is and the prestige that comes with that.

Big egos will always need sating.

Wait to see what they do if the PL actually deal a decent punishment for them trying to leave.

No chance of punishment they'll be hailed as heroes and will benefit probably from a bigger slice of the CL pie all whilst the 14 other clubs remain shafted and bounded by FFP to keep them relevant.
