Champions League revamp

Buying the league isn't the big problem. That's the dangers of a largely free market - if someone sees inherent value in pumping money into something, so be it; it's up to others to match it or bow out. It's a separate discussion as to whether we should have salary caps, draft systems etc.

The problem with the Super League isn't financial; it's the competitive aspect. As in there's no competition; these teams no longer have a risk of failure. They are franchised. Nobody else gets in, nobody goes out.

Teams have been buying or attempting to buy the league for decades.

Hell Everton has tried and succeeded in the past.

I honestly don't have an issue in teams buying the league, its part of football.

Its when teams like Liverpool have a pop at clubs like City, despite breaking transfer records, that's what bothers me.

And Leicester showed that money isn't what wins trophies.

The 6 won't face any serious sanctions for this. Let's be brutally honest here.
I certainly hope you are wrong.

Apart from the unsporting nature of the "closed shop" new tournament, and the arrogance shown towards fellow football clubs and their fans, this whole episode totally undermines the English FA and the English Premier League. Let there be no doubt that, in the new world of football, the ESL will take preference and secondary squads will be played in Premier games and probably youth teams played in both cups. I mean, they don't even have Europe to play for because they already have it.

Both the FA and the Premier League will be absolute fools to accommodate the ESL. Once they bend over for this the "6" will then have them over a barrel when share of TV rights are next negotiated.

They have to be threatened with expulsion from both the Premier League and the FA. Hopefully this will make them see sense, but if it doesn't then so be it.

If English Football bends over to accommodate these 6 clubs, then we may as well all pack it in and go home.

Hang on.
Let’s not pretend Blackburn didn’t buy the league here.
Yeah but that's sort of the point. Someone could buy Walsall and get them to the Prem currently. This Super League would kill that off for basically anyone outside the these "super league" clubs

City fans in general you mean?
Because we have willingly jumped into bed with our arch enemies who have tried
very hard to put us out of business for the last 7 years. Apart from it being a closed
shop (even more than it was previously). It just stinks from top to bottom.
Thanks, I’m surprised by the fans outrage of the 6 clubs. It will go ahead and the PL will probably let them stay and you will always have loads of money and play big teams every week.

We arguably started it!

When something is popular, it's big business. Fine by me. Well, to an extent, as the game has been murdered gradually because of it, but I recognise it as sort of inevitable.

I don't recognise the necessity for a footballing anti-competitive cartel.

The players have the ability to kill this stone dead by refusing to play, mass gestures, speaking out.

They won't. You'll get the odd token tweet.
I think it would be silly for them to speak out, currently.

The approach they seem to be making is, listen, take everything in, meet, then form a plan.

I think its unfair to expect players to speak out.

Of course.
But I’d say the Leicester league win is more relevant to what could be achieved if you get me ?
For the underdog, but the Blackburn fleeting success is a much better illustration of why letting current big teams, some of whom have a tenuous relationship with success or have only experienced success for a short time, dictate the governance of football, is ludicrous.

The fat lady isn't singing just yet, but she's walking on stage as we speak...

TBF clubs who've refinanced with big loans from US banks / hedge funds would be the likely scabs.

Looking at it the wrong way mate. Perhaps I wasnt clear.

The scab clubs want the scab league, and stay in the PL. Currently, the PL have the power to drop them. So, one more PL club in the scab league, and they have control back.

Out of the 14, who would you approach? A club who have panned it, or one who hasnt, and whose owner couldnt care less, fan wise?

They could still get to the PL just means the top clubs have more money and better players. There won’t be much different to how it is now. They just have an extra 350 mil a season to spend on players
