Champions League revamp

Indeed, perhaps if they'd actually spoken to people outside of the boardroom they'd have realised this is utter madness and not gone ahead with it.

Like I said earlier. Not remotely surprised the Mericans went with it; its what they know. They basically do not care.

Less so with Chelsea and City though. Dont get that one.

In the short term, yes. Everyone is going to suffer.

In the medium to long term though this might have a positive effect - they were the ones driving wages and transfer fees up, the ones hoarding cash and the ones preventing everyone else winning things. When the SL fails (and it will if up against a better competitor) what money did leave will probably start coming back as well.

They'll continually develop the ESL though, and assuming it's outside FIFA, will expand to different types of competitions to 'enhance the product' - cups tournaments, invite some new members, potentially even create new teams from scratch filled with league-owned stars. They won't stand still.

And I have no doubt he would not
But we will never know who is correct so its pointless discussing it
That's fair enough Bri. But you did respond to my initial post on the matter which would indicate that you did want to discuss it. :)

But as you say it's a moot point because we are never going to be asked. The only reason I mentioned it at all is that I was making a point that it isn't the clubs, players and fans at fault, but the owners.

Says it all though that when Boris Johnson, the serving PM, says this will be stopped and won't happen, that absolutely nobody believes him.

Yeah because if it was any other hypothetical PM from any other governing party, we'd all have total faith in them.

Agreed
I would say the vast majority of fans and a high percentage of players are against this

Tbf it isn’t in mine either and all your other points are valid and are why I’d personally never have signed up to the plan.

However whilst not being a great reason I do think it would have been pretty impossible for the ringleaders of this to get to the stage they are, having signed contracts in their hand, without the secrecy. And that is all they really care about.
Do we really think they're going to go ahead with this? They've done untold damage to their brands and the only way out of this is to slither back into a revamped Champions League that weights the dice in their favour. I can't see how they can possibly go ahead with this league.

No wonder Utd and Juventus share price is on the upward trend, since this broke.
