Champions League revamp

It really is time for ‘operation don’t let the door hit you’

The premier league in its current guise is absolutely rubbish. The coverage is appalling, the media is appalling , it’s so geared towards them 6 that’s it’s worse for the rest of us.

Currently, about of the teams of the 12 could forcefully buy our best players if they wanted, others couldn’t. What’s the worse case scenario with the ESL, Spurs buy Michael Keane for £50m? Sound.

So much time is being spent absolutely furious about them leaving and none is being spent figuring out a plan for when they’re gone.

Let them go , get our game back. Everton were here before any of them and we’ll be here at the forefront when they’re gone, no more ego massaging and begging them to stay, it’s hurting my eyes.

There will be challenges yes, the game will still be the national game though, we’ll still all go to the match.

I would genuinely much rather a league without them clubs and their fans involved anyway, it’s been a circus for years. Get rid and carry on.

Honestly gobsmacked by how little thought has gone into messaging by the owners

Its crazy. The literal texbook for 'managing change to be successful' is all about involving stakeholders throughout the process, there are countless examples as to why you should, and they've done none of that. Not even a little bit, none at all.

Stan and his son Josh don't give one toss about the players, fans, the community. They only care about the brand of 'The Arsenal Football Club', if they can get this league off the ground for a season or 2 to build up new fan bases around the world that's all they want.

I dont think there is a single PL team brave enough to walk away from PL if others come back, especially if it is more than one. This has been does as a pack of wolves, despicable ones & they will remain together.

It's also really important to mention that the chances of them actually leaving the PL are incredibly slim, in fact I say its almost impossible

Three possible outcomes for me.....

1) Tails between legs. PR disaster and they lose all moral authority in PL
2) All parties spend 12 months looking for a solution (UEfa, PL, the six & domesitic leagues)
3) Super league goes ahead with significant offer to domestic leagues making it competitive as a genuine competitor to CL

My money is on outcome 2; i do not see a scenario where we have witnessed our last derby under

Yes good points mate. In a normal situation I would say one returning would trigger a "bull run" and people would flock back. However as indicated I just wonder what guarentees people make. I'll be frank, this also feels very personnal for the American owners. They don't understand, respect, acknowledge or appreciate the culture that exists around English football, where community rather than greed are central. I do wonder if your Glaziers will actually just go ahead whatever happens, as if to prove a point.

The issue with 2, for what I can see, is given the language that has been used, I'm not sure these things can ever be repaired, never mind in 12 months. And we know the compromise looks like Project Big Picture that can never happen. The sort of changes that need to happen- cheaper tickets, less money given to the top teams, stringent wage caps for all teams to follow (equally set) will also not be agreed by the greedy teams. UEFA will also know, they will constantly be looking to leave as soon as the moment is ripe. Why would you let them take any more money, or exposure when they will look to use it against you?

I'd offer 1 other option and change a bit on option 1. Option 1, if they come back, I'd imagine a points deduction will have to follow and probably a ban from European competitions for a period of time. They must have priced that in.

Option 4, is that it goes ahead somehow, but with certain teams coming back. They don't get anymore teams to be involved from Europe, but fill it with American teams, so they have maybe 8 or 9 teams, with 8 from MLS or around the world. The product will collapse of course, but there is a lot of nose cutting to save face going on here.

I don't think option 2 is really a possibility, and to prove a point option 3-4 may be deemed as a better alternative to 1 for a lot of these owners.

It's more of a case of " I have no idea what's going , give me time to find out and I'll get back to you with a kick arse quote ".
Still it's not entirely towing the party line and it's strange that it's on the official account . This post must of crossed at least a dozen desks before being posted .
Maybe it's true that they only joined because they didn't want to miss out .
they live tweeted his presser word for word - that's not the strongest quote from it

they did however cut his presser short

Cant help but feel whatever the result of this is we'll get shafted as a club.

Either UEFA cave in and give them a bigger slice of the pie for staying OR we go down the road of 50+1 German style ownership and Moshiri/Usmanov put in less money as they own less of the club.

Either scenario we lose out despite sticking by the rules.
Who cares about money? I want to watch and support Everton. If I can support a team that's about the fans, the players and a honest game, I don´t care what league we are in or how much money some vulture owners make or not.

With all the excitement we mustn’t forget the game tonight. Cockney Blue Scabs v Br*ght*n. Now it is quite likely that the south coast bottlers will try some anti ESL PR with T shirts or dancing gigolos or some such and whilst that is all very laudable please don’t forget that they are vermin. Well intentioned vermin tonight possibly but nonetheless, still vermin. Thank you.
