Champions League revamp

I'm saying what I think will happen mate, not what I want.

If it was my decision, they'd be expelled permanently, and stripped of every title associated to them with them being re-awarded to 2nd places etc.

I'd then go above and beyond to remarket the Premier League, within 10-15 years you'll have new equivalents of the current 6. They're only big because they've been given the authenticity and relevance their leagues give them.

But the Premier League will bottle it, I'm convinced.
I think they will be looking at the best way to remove ownership from the clubs.

It maintains the brand, keeps the identity of the clubs, but removes power from, largely America based Franchise owners.

You think it's happening without 80% of the audience figures? Not a chance.

That's why I'm astonished people really think Everton will play in a domestic league without Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

If that happens, money falls out the arse of the Premier League (TV money goes) and the gap between Everton and those clubs get even bigger than if they remained.

It's why I say you have to let them stay and regulate the f*** out of them. Squeeze the money they make from the super league and distribute it into the league.

I don't think the big issue is the PL though. Its UEFA and the champions league which will be hit as a competition. So whatever UEFA do, everyone else will follow suit.

The minute UEFA go through with banning teams, it'll give credibility for the league's to do the same. Then there will be some massive changes that they'll both need to do to survive.

You basically give them enough of a points deduction say 50 points so they have a relegation battle between themselves 3 go down job done .

Guardiola isn't going to have a pop either. It benefits himself, the club he manages, and the club he loves

He does hate the idea of it though and it makes him as hypocritical as any of the others if he doesn't.

It's a small step.

If they don't take it - while understandable to an extent - then punishment has to be the bans. Bans on the players will hit the most.

There's a general disdain for international footy among fans of PL clubs now. But, that isn't the case for most of those players.

Two tournaments coming up in the next 18 months. If they're faced with bans, their agents will make hell.

The thing is though, people have a very different relationship to football than coffee don't they? If Everton were a coffee shop, we would have jibbed it off years ago.

The menu:

Toffee Coffee (£3.50)
An Americano infused with the right mix of anger, anxiety, frustration. Each sip will make you believe your dreams will come true, each swallow will be a disappointing and bitter reminder of what true sadness feels like. (v/vg/gf)

Has anyone considered that Sky/BT may not reduce the payments in absence of the 6 as they haven’t been included in the super league? They may well back the “new” premier league to compete with the super league?? Speculate to accumulate.

Back up again the following season using their hefty new accumulated money from the super league and they have the best of both worlds again. It’s not gonna work. They need expelling. They’ve made their bed let them lie in it. No going back.

that is not a big enough punishment if they go ahead, its relegated to the conference or complete expulsion from english football

The more I read about this the more I think the top 6 wouldn't be bothered if they were kicked out the PL anyway and if anything would prefer to focus solely on the Super League.

As others have said this would essentially in time become the Premier League with the Premier League the equivalent of the Championship.

The PL has to act NOW - suspend them from the upcoming 2021/22 season with immediate effect and advise if they dont withdraw within 14 days thats them done.

UEFA hopefully also kick them out of the CL/EL this week also.

They have been run horridly and have been losing money for years.

Mate, Messi is on what, £500m his current contract?

COVID has hit those clubs harder than any PL clubs as well.
Yeah I know that, but those figures should ensure they manage their money correctly. If they can’t then sell players and sort your fkin heads out.
They’re gambling the clubs future for one player in this case. Pathetic management and horribly run as you have pointed out.

That table, and the reasoning that they want/need more money, is the wake up call football needs.
Stop paying ridiculous extortionate transfer fees, agents fees and wages of your equally extortionate revenue/income.
