Champions League revamp

Do you really care? The way I see it, let them go. 12 teams can't own all the best players. We might see something more like what football used to be.... Kids coming through the ranks, signing a true world class player out of nowhere, clubs rising and falling, giant killings. No pulling up the draw bridge to stop others having success. I'd like to see the premiere league 14 join with the rest of the football league from now on.

I'm saying what I think will happen mate, not what I want.

If it was my decision, they'd be expelled permanently, and stripped of every title associated to them with them being re-awarded to 2nd places etc.

I'd then go above and beyond to remarket the Premier League, within 10-15 years you'll have new equivalents of the current 6. They're only big because they've been given the authenticity and relevance their leagues give them.

But the Premier League will bottle it, I'm convinced.

You think it's happening without 80% of the audience figures? Not a chance.

That's why I'm astonished people really think Everton will play in a domestic league without Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

If that happens, money falls out the arse of the Premier League (TV money goes) and the gap between Everton and those clubs get even bigger than if they remained.
Let it be so. Then the premier league will then on more equal footing with most of the other leagues in Europe, and competition will be fairer.

So what if money vanishes from the league? Players on 5 or 10k a week is better than being on 500 quid a week in the local shop so we'll get still have players on the field and maybe even more kids through the academy. It sounds more like a nirvana for me.

Let the greedy scabs have their Euro Scab League. Let them play their non-competitive exhibition games for tourists and day trippers. The day the scab clubs start spreading the franchises out will be a great day for me. Let them take their world wide wrestling format of phoney football with them.

Kick them out.

Of course the two English CL semi-finalists will be getting cold feet.

Not having it tbh Jimbo, no good source has put it out there. Stinks of the media banding together to sow seeds of doubt within these clubs.

I do think Chelsea have some leverage if they want to back down though. Abramovic asks the government to bin any sanctions against Russians/Putin allies in return for Chelsea killing the idea.

City won't bail. They see it as the ultimate sod you to UEFA, something they've been looking to do since they were taken over

Look at Sky, just as an example.

Yes, they're coming out as against this now (as a broadcaster here, I don't just mean Neville and Carragher), because it's clearly been done in such a way that anybody and anything relating itself to it is a PR disaster.

But, if these clubs are all banned from Europe, and banned from their leagues, and they have nobody else to play against and nowhere else to play, then there's a massive, massive audience gap to fill.

And Sky, like all the other broadcasters, would be after a piece of that pie.

the gap will grow if they stayed as they are playing in a closed shop tournament.

If they go (and they should be kicked out) then at least it will make the EPL competitive but money will drop significantly. But you know what it will still survive and at least we have fair competition rather then becoming a feeder club for these 6 with no hope of challenging.

they simply have to go even to the detriment of the EPL

Either way, we're screwed. The Premier League defacto becomes the second tier. The TV money will be slashed dramatically as the biggest money goes in to the ESL.

If there is no legal way out of this and the ESL clubs don't grow a conscience, the only option is huge sanctions that means the 6 retain their position in the league, but at a massive competitive disadvantage - a points handicap to seriously put them at risk of relegation unless they play full strength teams + a transfer embargo. Whether the PL can legally implement those sanctions is another issue, but the ESL6 are in breach of their obligations so everything is in play.

I agree mate but don't think the Premier League will.

Hope I'm wrong.

Oh I don't know if it's true but if true you can imagine the 2 clubs that risk losing a chance at winning a CL would be like oo err, didn't realise that could happen.
