Champions League revamp

Exactly this.

The alternative is accepting annihilation long term.

What's the point in bending over to them now to survive for a few years if you're absolutely 100% certain to be destroyed/irrelevant forevermore?

They've surely overplayed their hand.

Plus they’ll walk away anyway when it becomes clear the PL isn’t a quality league.

They stay in the league and get to join this super league they’re only gonna play their B teams and reserve players anyways. It automatically devalues the Premier League. Regardless if they get kicked out or not the PL is damaged goods.

People are forgetting that the 14 will lose out if the 6 are expelled because the moneymen will follow the demand/audiences.

Expel them, and the 6 get the mega money and the 14 get even less money than they currently do.

The TV deal isn't maintained when the ESL have their own provider and the numbers.

No, we all know there'd be the equivalent of a market crash.

But the fact is domestic football wouldn't die; it'd be reset. There'd be less money, then it'd recover over time.

The alternative for these 14 clubs and every other club in the pyramid is irrelevance. Perpetual Division 2.

It's like Hitler invading Poland - you warn them, you don't want to go to war, it'll be a disaster for everyone, but your hand is pushed. You have to act. And this is footballing war.

That's the cards the 14 have.

The solution to this has to be state driven. It has to be fan ownership.
Mod so you think they will let the ESL to go ahead? Those teams stay in the PL with no punishment?

I agree.

I'm saying what I think will happen.

Do I think Premier League will have courage in their conviction and play the bigger picture?

Absolutely not.

TV money controls the game now, and the audiences are with the 6.

How the hell are barca and real losing money?

You think it's happening without 80% of the audience figures? Not a chance.

That's why I'm astonished people really think Everton will play in a domestic league without Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

If that happens, money falls out the arse of the Premier League (TV money goes) and the gap between Everton and those clubs get even bigger than if they remained.
Do you really care? The way I see it, let them go. 12 teams can't own all the best players. We might see something more like what football used to be.... Kids coming through the ranks, signing a true world class player out of nowhere, clubs rising and falling, giant killings. No pulling up the draw bridge to stop others having success. I'd like to see the premiere league 14 join with the rest of the football league from now on.

Mod so you think they will let the SPL to go ahead? Those teams stay in the PL with no punishment?

No clue mate.

But I'd be astonished if the Premier League expelled them. I hope they do, it's needed but I think either the Champions League will be significantly repackaged as a compromise, or the SPL will go ahead with the 6 competing in that, and the Premier League IMO.

I can't see the 6 being left without a domestic league/the Premier League continuing without them.

They’ve bitten off more than they can chew this horrible six.

Must have thought they held all the aces but played their hand without any clue about how much the public love their football.
This will see them put right back in their box I think.
But punishment is needed, harsh punishment

Come on, you surely realise how much of a waste of time this is? We’re talking about people with infinite wealth here.
Yeah I agree, but I think that’s what they will do.
The points deduction and them being out of the CL next season will hit them.
