Champions League revamp

A league without the "Big 6" could easily work, Would it be as rich and money flowing about, Would we be seeing teams spend 40m on players? Absolutely not and I wouldn't care if we did, Take me back to the Moyes days of spotting players for 5m.
The PL is the PL because of all 20 teams even if you're a Sheffield United fan (who beat United btw.)

La Liga President Javier Tebas holding meeting tomorrow with all top 2 league clubs except the 3.
He sounds committed to punishment of Real, Atletico and Barca.
Raises an interesting point. Are the 3 leagues going to have to coordinate responses and punishments. What would happen if La Liga expelled their 3 and the PL chickens out?

....I think it’s very important that fans of non-ESL clubs across Europe also play their part by not subscribing to TV companies screening these matches.

Fans have to be as one but it will take a co-ordinated effort.

In this world, money talks. So being totally realistic, this has got some serious legs. It's backed by a massive American financial institution and the biggest football clubs in Europe. If they want to make it happen, it is a real thing.

But it's not without obstacle. For it to work, they NEED national and international football associations and leagues to agree to it. This is the main problem, because we're talking about financial compromises vs. sport.

The Premier League as an elite tournament and financial giant would be diminished if the ESL6 were to be thrown out. But it would also be diminished (probably more permanently) if they allowed 6 clubs to lock in a massive and permanent competitive advantage. It would confirm a 2-speed Premier League which goes against the foundations of sport. It wouldn't be sporting in the slightest and it would cause huge structural problems throughout the football pyramid.

If those clubs are truly that committed to this concept, then the only workable solution would be for them to withdraw from their national leagues and associations and form their own governing body outside UEFA and FIFA. That in itself is a massive legal challenge and would probably need some tweaks to the rules so that they aren't technically playing Association Football.

The clubs themselves would operate in isolation, like NFL franchises.

Players, managers and coaches are employees, so should be able to be employed by anyone (and therefore go to any club in any league) as long as they have the appropriate credentials. The clubs themselves though would need to choose between the status quo, or withdrawing from the game entirely and starting under a totally new structure which isn't part of the FIFA hierarchy.
The ESL will happen regardless. Even if LFC and Man Utd have to be relocated to the USA it will happen; as you say, there is serious financial muscle behind this. It’s all about how UEFA and the domestic leagues respond now. If they let the 12 walk all over them then the game is finished in my view.

I’m going to name a new thread called ‘The European Super League’ if you want to speak in their instead of this thread.

English football without the 'Big6'?

In all honesty, it would only be Man Utd and the RS that would be notable by their absence. Chelsea, City and Spurs are historically pretty insignificant.

If that meant an actual sporting competition (which it essentially is), then English football would quickly recover. It would be diminished, but it would be a viable and probably an extremely vibrant and possibly more exciting prospect without the grip of a top few elite.

English football with a 'Big6' with a permanent, locked-in competitive and financial advantage? That's not sport. It's fake 'sports entertainment' that is ultimately untenable and would lead to huge structural problems across the game.

The big 6 don't care about football anymore, we have to stand tall and move on without them. I don't care about global support, huge sponsors or huge wages. Money can still be made without those 6. We cant sit with our hands begging them to stay. The league is now devalued and that will kill British football. Without the 6, we will have a competitive league and the fans, nothing else matters.
One thing I don't want to see is them given a bigger slice of the pie to make them stay.
If they do that it is just kicking the can further up the road as they will just come back in another 12 months and try again.
Give them until the end of the week to withdraw the plan and if not tell them that are no longer eligible for existing competitions next season.I would promote the top four from the championship with no team going down also leave league 1 and 2 as is with no change.
