New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

It's not a dream as we have owners that are not going to sit down and just say we'll stay at Goodison Park now. You do realise that we need a new stadium whatever and we have already spent millions on this project? Even if we went for the bare bones option it would still be 200 million+.

As a club we still have to put in the groundwork to compete with these teams so if this becomes the norm at some stage we need to have the infrastructure to gatecrash the party. You think I'm dreaming but I'm falling to see any logic in your riposte. The stadium is not and never was reliant in TV money. That was the Emirates build, short term loans that needed to be paid back ASAP due to crippling interest rates, this is a long term mortgage style deal where even in the mid 2000's we were making enough income wise to repay it back.
I'm not sure you're even reading the posts nevermind understanding them so i'll leave it there.

If we are going for the title do you think any of our fans will care? I personally don't watch football to see what the rich 6 are doing. There are also people that pay £50 now to watch dire mid table football. There is no thinking about it.

And whose sponsoring the stadium? ...our owners!
And you think we will attract the players to win the title?
Those six teams are doing it because it will give them significantly more money. That will happen at the expense of the PL revenue.

We need a new stadium to have a chance to compete with the clubs above us.

This super league removes that chance.

Realistically, nobody is getting 'expelled'. I can see some tokenistic retrospective points deduction and fine later this summer (once the league tables are final and no impact to the luvvies European qualification next season). And that'll be that.

mid that happens then the game deserves to finish and die completely, but I think that if the EPL is serious about protecting their product they have to expel.

Football would take a massive hit but it would I think football going back to the 80’s where it’s on free to air and the huge transfer fees and wages are gone.

football will still continue but it will be a far smaller scale and a complete reset of the game.

some clubs would go bust though

If the super league goes ahead and the ‘big six’ are excluded from domestic competition that will be the end of the Premier League and TV-revenue for the remaining UK clubs will diminish dramatically.
You expect Moshiri to go ahead with building the new stadium in that reality? No chance. He’ll cut his losses and sell.

These clubs already have the global reach.
Between them they probably generate two thirds of football revenue in Europe.
Yes, but I would say they have that reach because the leagues they play in are competitive and exciting with a lot of local support *and rivalry*. US sports do not have that. Yes, they’re successful in their own terms. But there aren’t Boston Red Soxs fans trailing across the country in vast numbers to see, say, them play another team. And their global support is zero.
It’s not impossible to think that Liverpool etc would be kicked out of all domestic competitions. What then? Their fanbase in Malaysia might not care. The wools who support them might care a bit more when they’re playing Real Madrid or Porto but no one else and things are ebbing away...the constant abuse and the lack of talent coming through after a while...

How is that protecting their product though? Protecting their product will mean them bending over backwards to pander to these 6 clubs. If they were to expel them then football in this country would turn into SPL standard practically overnight. If clubs would survive at all. TV deals & sponsorships would be absolutely decimated and clubs would be left in an awful mess.

International football would be finished too. Which makes it even more sickening that they are trying to frame this as good for the whole of football. Vile.

who is gonna pay huge broadcasting rights for a competition that is seen as inferior to an ESL.

This would automatically devalue the premier league and European competitions

Or the money generated trumps all that. Football has carried on with empty stadiums, they have proved it can happen.
They will follow the money, wherever that leads.

But they'd still earn 1000x more with them 6 clubs involved than without. Self interest of the PL will see them roll over on this, no doubt.

And if they do manage to pull this off then UEFA is obviously dead. The Champions League and Europa will eventually be no more and the ESL will replace them.

This is the likely outcome.

If Moshiri was only interested in money he would have kept his stake in Arsenal as would have Usmanov.

Selling 30% of Arsenal would likely fetch you not far off what you would get for most if not all of Everton at present.

They wanted to own a club to run it - Liverpool Waters will still earn them decent money on the back of the stadium.

Its 100% going ahead still regardless particularly in a post mad TV deal world - club will need more bums on seats to increase the club coffers.

Totally logical - the only other thought in my mind was - are moshiri/usmanov looking to recover value through the appreciation of the value of the football club or through property development in and around BMD - if the latter then there’s still a logic to go forward with it.

I have to say I wouldn’t be going forward with this with such uncertainty but then im not walking around with a billion quid in my pocket!

Also make no mistake if this super league hits off sadly Everton may want a piece of any future pie and a big new shiny ground makes them attractive to a future "invite".

Dont be naive to think at some point other english clubs wouldnt jump ship be it 5-10 years down the line if the PL product was to start stagnating.
