Wait I’m sorry, I haven’t paid much attention to this but I’ve just seen clubs are suspended from their domestic leagues. Is the super league the elitist league we thought it was going to be and what else has happened?

It’s actually extremely sad. Do these people not realise how much football means to people?

This has ripped the heart out of the game.

This. There’s one club we’d all happily never see again. But some of these clubs are massive parts of the history of football. Even our lives growing up, we may not support these teams but who can forgot stuff like United’s treble or Arsenal’s invincibles. Or from Europe, some legendary nights involving Barca or Milan.

Yes, Everton are the priority. But if you like football this is an abomination. And no matter what you think of clubs or their owners, there are good people who are ordinary fans at every club. They don’t want this. And they haven’t even been consulted. It’s a disgrace and it’s also a tragedy for the game. Yes, the game could recover. But seriously, would it really?

I expect protests to follow very soon.

This is a crime. The government has the power to purchase every single one of these clubs if they so wish.

Not sure it needs that, just the governing associations to ban them from their competitions and national team eligibility.
