Champions League revamp

This just highlights why way too many people are completely out of touch in this thread. Literally wishing for clubs to be destroyed on the back of the actions/decisions of some greedy scumbags.

It's completely bizarre. It's the owners/moneymen who need to be held accountable and punished in some way. There's people here who seemingly want clubs to be liquidated.
proposals like this would suggest that the owners of these clubs would fail the fit and proper person test that is a hoop to jump through when buying a club.

One thing all these clubs forget is that someone has to finish bottom.

This is what always gets me about this super league talk.

Its not for the local/diehard fan base it'll be for the armchair glory supporters. So when the league sorts itself out and the natural balance of teams shows up in the league rankings how long are the glory supporters going to enjoy watching their team getting tonked every week?

Then those same fans will bin off the loosing teams and start following the best teams in that super league. It'll just end up with the best teams cannibalising the worst.

Then the worst teams will just become like the WBA or Sheffield Uniteds of this season but unable to go anywhere or improve just go into a death spiral. Then the games against them teams won't have the glamour of the best of the best and instead will end up like city v WBA. Then people will stop watching those games then the top teams will start saying "why should we share the money equally, we bring more viewers to this league then x". Then the whole cycle of whats been happening to football on the whole will happen again.

It’s completely bizarre that you’ve been posting on a rival teams forums for years ye meff

Everton are spending £500 million to build a new stadium with the ambition to play in Champions League. Fans all over love the competition as it is," he said.

“In my time at United, we played in four Champions League finals and they were always the most special of nights.

Makes you wonder how keen the players would actually be. I know they'll get paid loads of cash but if they are banned from domestic, European and international football for taking part, wouldn't it make them think twice? I know some people are down on international football, but the players take it seriously and the threat of losing that must mean something to them.

Also, what does it do to the young players in academy systems if you're at one of these clubs. Faced with losing even the chance of playing for your country?

Would be interesting contractually if these clubs went on; would players current contracts be valid as this would probably be a league not even considered when the contracts were drafted.
You can get paid 300k a week to play 6 games a year.
Or 5k a week to play in the domestic leagues and play for your country.

Which option do you think they will pick?

your second paragraph is why this cannot happen At the moment, some money filters down the pyramid, clubs lower down the leagues will now fail and close down. Football will become a Harlem Globetrotters customer event

No you don't understand. We don't want them liquidated, but if the alternative is meekly allowing this to go ahead then the destruction of six clubs is preferable to the destruction of the entire game.
